Wing Mirror

Hi Folks

I'm looking for some knowledge on the difference between different wing mirror Mk's.

My missus had her drivers side wing mirror whacked off by some ignorant/inconsiderate (insert expletive here).

I recovered most of the parts and I have since discovered that you can't replace single items within the unit so I'm resolved to getting a new unit.

I've looked on eBay and seen a few but there seems to be some discrepancies between sellers descriptions. As far as I can tell she has a Mk4 style mirror (2008-2011 - with indicator strip on rear) but some items look identical to hers and are listed as Mk5?

Does anyone know if there is a difference between Mk's or has an item possibly been listed incorrectly if it looks identical?

Tbh I've also seen the same mirror listed as a Mk2 2008-2011!

Car is a 2011 plate.

Cheers for any help!

The MK system generally used is not official and Ford themselves work by the manufacturing year.

By rule of thumb MK1 was 98-late 02, MK1 facelift (1.5) was late 02- late 04, MK2 was late 04-late 07, MK2 facelift (2.5) was late 07- late 11, MK3 11-.

MK 1 and MK1.5 use the same mirrors and the same with MK 2.5 and MK3, the MK 2 mirrors will only fit a MK2.

Thanks Stoney

Sounds like the Mk3 (which looks identical and is listed as a Mk5) will fit then as the missus appears to have a Mk2.5.

Cheers for help.

One thing to bear in mind though is the mirrors are the same but knowing Ford they may have changed the wiring connectors just to be a pain.

If you search for a mirror rated 08-11 then you'll be much safer.
