Cant remember if ford fuel sender units are accessible from under back seat but if not you'd have to remove fuel tank. Some1 must know on here though. The float should have a track it runs on & this is possibly dirty. Theyre expensive to buy new ive heard

  • 2 weeks later...

well the fuel-pump went on the car, thought i'd run out of petrol phoned RAC.did all his checks and came up with the fuel pump not working at all.so going to get quotes from mobile mechanics..... :(

why mobile mechanics? why not get it to a diesel specialist where you know you're gonna get what you pay for(more-or-less).

i think a mobile mechanic is inviting trouble mate

at the moment the car is on the drive.going no where.did some googling on the net for mobile car mechanic's in the area and came up with his chap who's been doing it for 30yrs.gave him a phone call, gave him details of car and he quoted me £200.£150 for the fuel-pump and the rest for his services....

not a bad price in the grand scheme of things, especially when it saves you £150 towing it to a garage!

Gone are the days when they'd just cut it bigger wi a grinder lol. Remember when i bought a car yrs ago, the whole had been cut wider with snips to get it out

So, £270? That's quite a bargain when you consider that getting the fuel pump replaced on my last car (Focus TDDI) cost me £1,147.

ah good. another happy bunny :D

ps sorry, what digital readout? your display mpg?

its because the battery etc has been disconnected probably & its giving you your average all time mpg.it'll settle after a while & change slower, the more miles you do

having read that reply again,it doesnt sound like this is what you're meaning. strange

ok took the car out for drive around and it seem to have slowed it right down.the only problem now is when i started the car the yellow engine mangement light wouldn't go out.it drives ok.so might disconnect the battery in the morning and see if that helps.fingers crossed :cry:

took the connection to the battery off yesterday and that seems to have taken the engine management light off.has for the digital readout distance to fuel.thats corrected itself and working great now.even the MPG has started to work now
