Hi i have recently purchased a 2004 ford cmax 1.8 ghia with only 54000 miles.Has anyone else experienced using alot of engine oil (1ltr every 250 miles!)

The oil and filter was changed recently with correct oil,and the car has got 5 service stamps in the book from previous owner.

The car does not smoke and there are no oil leaks from engine,i have had the breather pipes all checked and there is no excessive crank pressure.

i have tried a oil additive from comma that stops smoke but noticed no difference in oil consumption.

I would appreciate any ideas or experiences other members have had !

that oil has to be going somewhere, sounds like its pushing out elsewhere.

Is there any sign of oil leaks in the engine bay anywhere?

is it petrol or diesel?

not necessarily, 5/30 can burn very clean especially if its just a minor amount.

think if there is no external sign of leaks and breather system is upto scratch, [which incidently, should be checked for signs of oil running through the system not just excessive pressure can cause this, im sure they have a pcv valve which can be failing allowing oil through into inlet manifold and getting burnt that way]

then it has to be stem seals/guides or less likely, rings
