Cambelt Problems - Now Alternator Playing Up

Hi,

I had my cambelt replaced on my 2003 Ford Focus just three months ago. Lost power last week, knocking noise coming from engine - luckily pulled over and called out my breakdown cover.

Was towed to the garage who identified that the cambelt was completely shredded. They replaced under warranty. As soon as I drove it out of the garage, the battery light came on and stayed on.

It is now back with the garage who suspect the alternator might need replacing - waiting on further investigations.

Is there a chance that the problems with the cambelt, loss of power and subsequent replacement could have damaged the alternator?

Please help!

Jeff

There's a very good chance it would have blown the alternator, I would be more worried about the valves and pistons though to be honest.

did they find out why the belt shredded was a full kit done so the tensioner was replaced as the tensioner will go taking the belt out later on it may even be the tensioner is faulty over tightening the belt
