Alloy Wheel Offset Question

Hoping to get some aftermarket alloys soon to replace the stock 16" focus ones. (205/55R16)

I've been asked before I make a purchase what offset I will require for front wheels

(18inch (225/40/R18)

The options are:

8.5J Offset 42

8.5J Offset 45

From what Ive been able to gather online the MK2.5 has a wheel offset of between 35mm - 52mm.

So an offset of 42mm should be ok on these 18".

Any wheel experts if you could chime in, id be most grateful before I drop a wad of cash on the wheels ;)

Cheers

B

Don't know anything about the wheels originally fitted, but does this website help you, at all?

So whats the stock offset then? I would have though either offset will fit under the wheel arch with enough clearance for brake being 18"

Not sure if I answered the questions, but the seller I contacted about the wheels said:

8,5Jx18 ET42 or ET45 is suitable for a Focus Mk2.5, but they recommend 8,5Jx18 ET45 to be on the safe side. Guess it depends on the shape/pattern/design of the alloy.
