Liamkel88
Hello, If this has already been discussed then i apologise, i couldnt find it anywhere. I have a 56 plate 1.8 Zetec petrol Focus and yesterday put a Cone KnN air filter on. When i took the top of the air box off i saw that there was a feed from the engine into the bottom of the airbox which ran oil out into a small sponge in the airbox. Anyone know what this is? And will this cone filter affect that? Does it need the suction from the air box to pull the oil through? Cheers.
Stoney871
The bit you're referring to is the crankcase breather hose. If you keep the small sponge clean it will look after itself.
Liamkel88
Cheers, any special ways to clean the sponge?
artscot79
just washing up liquid and wash by hand then dry really if youre fitting the cone you need a good cold air intake from the front of the car to the filter or heat soak which is bad on the 1.8 will kill the power as the heat from the exhaust manifold at the front of the engine gets blown through the bay and you can find after a long drive theres little power been there done that mate ide personally leave the airbox in put in a panel filter and remove the triangular piece on the top of the airbox which comes off and gives a loud induction roar
