chris_h
Hello, I am new here as I am looking into purchasing a ford focus 1,8 tdci (not the 1,6 due to their DPF, yuck!). I heard the 1.6 engines are not fords, but are infact peugeot/citroen engines. Is this true for the 1.8? The model I am looking at buying is a 1.8 tdci Ghia with 68000 miles, 55 reg, registered in 2006, nice interior ect for £3500, good price? I think it is looking at other focus diesels, but is the ghia model ok? I assume the engine is the same as the rest of the range, and the trims are simply different. Any more input on this car would be great cheers
Stoney871
You are correct on the facts about the 1.6. They are indeed not pure Ford engines. The 1.8 (Lynx) engine is pure Ford, it is an older style 8 valve engine but are pretty much bombproof. The car you mentioned sounds good to me, just make sure it has a good service history and give them a cheeky bid. The only problem I've ever had with my 1.8 is a dirty fuel filter, keep on top of that and you'll have no problems at all. The Ghia is a good spec, have a word with a member here called Brigante, he has a Ghia and can better tell you what trim level he has. chris_h
Cheers for that, whats the acceleration like and the average mpg? I will be viewing the vehicle on saturday for a better look
Stoney871
Acceleration is good in second and third but the gear ratio in first is a bit short as per most diesel cars. You will love it though. Around town I return about 40mpg and about 50-55 on motorways.
