GJC
Title says it all. Wanted a moan. CD player (that to be honest is hardly used at all) has failed, the screen flashed on an off the message "CD DRIVE MALFUNCTION" a few times, not long enough to read it just enough to think what was that, and then refused to play or eject. This morning it's very intermittantly working. Radio and bluetooth work fine so its probably a 2p plastic gear or rubber band, Phoned the dealer to find the warranty on the car expired 2 days ago, GGGRRRRRR Dealers looking at it as a goodwill gesture, but I'll bet Ford refuse to replace it as it's 2 days out of warranty, not likely to replace it anyway as we rarely use CD's, rather the USB stick. Thanks, feel better now
jamesm182
Wow that's unlucky only 2 days out of warranty! Hope they get it sorted for you! :)
L666JER
You should definitely push to get it fixed as a goodwill gesture. Even if you don't use it, think of when you come to sell the car. :)

GJC
Just an update, Replaced as dealer goodwill, got fitted last week as they take ages to come from Germany. Ford apparantly would not entertain it as it was out of warranty.. Only thing different I notice s when in CD mode I have an icon of a CD with MP3 by it, that I didn;t in the old one, and all the FM stations are still preset to German ones as I tend to listen to Radio 4 ony (i know I'm old!) GrahamJC
It is probably worth remembering that warranties from a manufacturers generally only add to your so called statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act and various other bits of legislation. For example, if I bought an expensive CD player with a one year warranty and it went wrong shortly after the warranty expired I would take it back to the place where I bought it and expect it to be repaired free of charge or replaced under the SOGA. This is your legal right. Businesses are keen to point out that a warranty has expired in the hope the customer will accept this a go away!
