Leaf springs on a dead axle are very easy to lower with lowering blocks or turning the axle inside the springs -

You cannot C - section or cut the cassis/ chassis legs and still pass an MOT now

By any chance would you know where to get lowering blocks from? With turning the axel in to the spring what do you do about the pin that keeps the springs in to place

I think you turn the lot round, the axle goes on top of the spring, instead of underneath, the clamps that hold the axle to the leaf springs are turned around, if you post up some pictures with the spring, axle pin etc i will try to find pictures/ guides of how it was done

These lowering blocks probably won't fit your car but give you an idea of what to look for -

Lowers the back about 80mm.

I did it on mine years ago.

You should also buy some shorter shocks to correct the suspension as the standard one's bottom out.
