Lumpy On Acceleration

Hi guts, other halves fusion has started to get very lumpy when you accelerate, harder you accelerate the lumpier it is.

Its a 1.4 petrol, ill ask before I start looking further into it.

This is worse up to 2k rpm and appears ti settle a bit when it warms up.

Fuel filter change I reckon mate,

Before changing it though,

Log on to eBay,

Purchase a bottle of "magic bullet"

Its like redex but won't strip oil from internal parts,

Run a tank of fuel through with magic bullet then change the fuel filter,

This will flush the contaminants from the tank in to the filter,

Where you will have the filter changed,

Clean system there after.

It may get worse on flushing with treatment but fuel filter change will leave it better than previously aswell as more economical,

Also clean out the induction filter box and change filter if required.

Local parts shop had some of that magic bullet whih I chucked in then used her car for work yesterday. 260miles later tank pretty much empty I changed fuel filter under torch light last night, while its alot better still having the issue. No codes showing up on car either.

I've no idea after that mate,

I'm glad you have saw some level of improvement on changing the fuel filter but I thought sure it would have fixed 100% of the problem.

Hopefully some other members can advise on digging deeper,

Strange there's no error codes neither,

lump running could indicate the coil pack and HT leads need replacing. especially if when you put your foot down you start to lose power.

Number them before removing from the distributor cap

Or remove them one by one,

Get hold of a voltage meter,

Put positive to one end of the HT lead and negative to the other end

Voltage should carry through.

Or you could take this oppertuity to upgrade the HT leads to a performance brand and change the distributor cap.

Hope to have a good look over weekend.

As I said previously only does it under 2k rpm and when you put your foot down.

This morning engine management light came on so hoping for a error code or 2 now. Shame by bluetooth obd unit paired to my phone doesnt read it at wall.

Want to sort it so I cant get my focus back for the misses

Lenny, you are confusing voltage with resistance and as for distributors and distributor caps they were replaced by coil packs.

Ah rite sorry :)

I've been diesel for 3 years and my now petrol is old skool 80's technology

Forgive me for forgetting the rest of the world has moved on ;)

Bring back old skill baby!!

Down with EGR,ESP, DPF,SRS and ABS let the people drive it like they stole it,

That's why we pay insurance, :lol:

Fault code now showing misfire in 4 so I know where to be checking now :rolleyes:

After a good clean up of the plugs and new coil we are running nice and smooth again

got the problem of dying under acceleration .emptied 1 inch of water from ports (thank you window washers).changed ignition coil.checked leads..still misfires under acceleration.runs ford normal when cold but when heats up i get that same old splutter problem..water pump seems to work as I get a steady flow from the return pipe to the bottle.took cap off oil fill.i get a bit of back pressure.but don't hear gurgling from oil pump. .so could the oil pump malfunction be the cause? I am totally lost here
