Steelys To Alloys

I have just got my new fiesta, and it came with stealys on! I have bought multifit ripspeed alloys off eBay, (they are right for the car and will fit) and when i took the stealys off, the hubs have screws fixed in them! I was wondering if I can just put the alloys on these screws and tighten them with nuts, or do i need to buy new hubs? Please help I really want to put these alloys on!

Please take a minute to introduce yourself in the new member section.

There's a few things that really matter when changing from steel rims to alloys and when changing alloys aswell.

These things can't be overlooked as they can be dangerous if not done correctly,

Thanks for coming on here to discuss it with us ;)

Now to ask a few questions and advise you.

Steel wheels use different nuts compared to those holding alloys.

The flange on steel nuts grip around the steel

The nuts for alloys have a 45 degree edge that sit in to the alloy.

Next thing is alloys,

If you purchased ford alloys for the fiesta then the centre bore of the alloys will be the correct size to bond on the centre of the hub,

But when purchasing aftermarket wheels such as the ones you have,

You need spigot rings,

Spigot rings are a plastic ring insert that sits in to the centre cap hole on the inside of the alloy,

They ensure the centre hub fits tight on to the alloy stopping slip.

Driving without correct spigot-rings on aftermarket alloys

Allows movement of the rim which can sheer off the bolts.

So correct spigot rings allows correct alignment of the rim on the hub.

Now for the hubs on you car,

Do they look like this with the wheel off ?

I understand yours would be a 4 bolts formation not a 5 like pictured

You just need alloy nuts and they should fit fine on the screws.

Check to see if the spigot rings are already fitted to the wheels. They will look like this (colour may vary):-
