Hi there i have a 997 1.4l Fiesta Ghia X and as i was driving the other night, i put it into the wrong gear and i believe that the big end bearing is broken. so i took it to a garage and they also believe its the big end bearing, the car also has alot of blue smoke coming out the exhaust when its started/revved i have been told that its burning oil and its a seal that cant be replaced that's broken can anyone help me here, people have said its not worth repairing but the rest of the car is immaculate so i don't really want to scrap it or whatever so what do you guys think?

Also does the 1.4 zetec engine have a sealed block? this is what ive been told?

if anyone can help me here it would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the family Benney, I'm going to move your question to the Fiesta section for a better audience.

whatever the actual problem is its obviously fairly serious

not sure what they mean by sealed block...but to be honest, to strip and rebuild correctly you'd be lucky to spend less than a grand..cheapest way to deal with this is a 2nd hand lump, even that will cost a minimum of 500 supplied/fitted

up to you, but a similar condition Fiesta (pre problem obviously) could easily be bought for similar if not cheaper money
