have just been thinking about this and I suspect its my egr,car had a new one fitted just before I bought it and was fitted by a backstreet garage and was not calibrated so I took it in to ford who calibrated the egr and did a software update for something I don't know but before car went into ford I could hear egr clicking after I turned engine off but since software update I have never heard it clicking again only buzzing, should I hear it clicking?

When it starts and idles low, does it respond to throttle input?

Ok, next time it does it, see if it responds to a bit of throttle. If not, get out and see if there is a lot of smoke from the exhaust. Will post more details later but might be the same problem I had with my 2.0 TDCi a few years ago.

Hi shamus

I had a similar issue with my Mondeo 2.0 litre when I had it a few years back now. Hot starts ended up with low revs and it didn't respond when the throttle pedal was pressed.

I got this fixed by having the injectors re calibrated and a PCM software update at fords. Cost about 80 quid and was fine after that.

Not sure if you have the same issue but it at least sounds similar.

Regards

Adrian.

well I think I have found problem myself as this thread is what my problem is http://www.mombu.com/ford/ford/t-focus-20-tdci-warm-start-saga-long-11048104.html.

LOL....... That's my posting. It was originally a Unsenet newsgroup post which has been "stolen" by a web forum. Note the "Vendee" in the very bottom line of the post. Both those links don't work BTW as it was a few years ago.... 2006 or 2007, I can't remember. It was under warranty thank goodness.

Anyway, that saves me explaining it all again. The good news is that the problem never appeared again. The car has now done 125k miles and is still going strong.
