womble68
anyone able to help, my focus has broke , had an engine malfunction put it into local garage they couldn't help although they found a couple of corroded wires which they repaired so took it to a main dealer spent a fair amount of money and they still haven't been able to sort it , first they said it was glow plugs, then it was the accelerator pedal so replaced that still same problem then they said it was the dash cluster needed replacing at a stupid price so I sent clocks to a company and they've come back with a 2 year warranty stating that they work fine no faults, basically where I stand now is the car runs but when ever I press accelerator I get a beep and display says engine malfunction and says reduced acceleration, read the error codes and comes up with immobiliser id does not match although this was the fault the main dealer said they had but they wont investigate any further until they replace the cluster even though the company I sent them to state they are working correctly , I don't want to fork out 650+ and its not the clocks and something else anyone have any thoughts on what it may be cheers
jeebowhite
Hi Womble, It sounds odd I will give you that! the accelerator, Throttle position sensor or the throttle body would likely be wear I was looking... the imobiliser issue though indicates there is probably a fault on the instrument cluster, although the clocks work fine, it could be that IDS is needed to recode the keys, or update the instrument cluster firmware in order to get rid of this error. womble68
hi thanks for the reply, when it first happened I called out green flag and they said thecode showing was the accelerator position sensor and I said this to ford but when they replaced the pedal it didn't solve it but they never mentioned checking the throttle body? can independant garage recode key and do a firmware upgrade as I don't have any confidence in my main dealer as my 17 yr old daughter showed me a photo of my car in the dealers apparently her friend is an apprentice there and he'd been working on my car for a week and couldn't find what was wrong with it ....funny how they still charged me 80 quid an hour for the apprentice to look at it, she said he worked on it on his own most of the time although the garage said it was a trained mechanic doing the work!! also I only have one key for the car would this be a problem?
