if the boots wet also then itt could be the lid isnt aligned correctly or the lights or spoiler is leaking remove the plastic cover inside the boot that covers the spoiler bolts if its leaking youll see water or signs of

Had it checked by a mate the leak in the boot was due to boot not aligned so that's sorted. The wet carpet in the car was due to a filter type thing under the wiper had to take the wipers off and cover we poured water and it ran down into the foot well gonna dry the carpet out and on the weekend pour water everywhere and see if the leak stoped.

  • 2 weeks later...

The drivers foot well is still getting wet under the insulation which is under the carpet thought I found the leak which was a grommet behind the trim near the front drivers wing as I poured water down and it just came through so I.put silicone on it but I guess I need to start stripping the dash.out as it seem it comin from behind the dash

Hi
My car is currently stripped bare inside due to a leak similar to yours. The grommet you mention above - did you access it from inside the car or under the bonnet ??
I thought I had cured the problem but never noticed this - fed up of having 2 inches of water in the car.
Any help appreciated , thanks

Eric

I'm also having the same issue.

Passenger side is absolutely soaked through and stinks of damp.

It is right next to the actual seat and not near the bulkhead.

My missus noticed it the other day but going off the smell (which has only just become noticeable) it must've been like that for a long time!

It's going in for rear parking sensors at the place I bought it from in a week so they're going to try to locate the leak for me. Hope they find it!

I had the same thing but it seemed to be passenger side only. After weeks of trying to find it ford stripped out the dash and it was missing mastic sealent between the a piller and front bulkhead. They put it down to a manufacturers defect. Hope that helps

Thanks Chris.

I will mention the various potential solutions to my mechanic when I take the car down.

Hope he finds it as it's really bad now! :(

Still can't find the leak it feels like it's coming from somewhere near the accelerator pedel I wonder if it the brake servo. The grommet that I found that was leaking you can get to from the inside of he car just pull the trim back next to the doo kick then pull the carpet back where it meets the side panel section and you should see a black grommet bit high up with cable coming out off it my cable is wrapped in black tape not sure if you're gonna be the same but that grommet was leaking really bad.

My front passenger side was the same it was the pollen filter the water ended up near the seat as it just rolled back and stored there then it ended up running to the back passenger foot well but since I replaced the pollen filter that side don't leak anymore.no I need to sort the drivers foot well.

This is getting to be quite common now :( could be the bulkhead sealant that's cracked

Take off the wipers and scuttle panel off so you can look at the bulkhead on the passenger side and Drivers side and check the sealant in the corner for cracks , if there are signs of cracks re seal with some good waterproof sealer

My mate already checked it and couldn't see anything I might double check it.even when the car been parked up for 1 week as soon as it rains it gets wet.I found this dye that glows when you use a uv light I'm gonna buy some and you mix it with water the pour it over the car and get inside with the uv light and see where its leaking from.

the pollen filter on the mk2 is internal so it wont leak from there unless the leak is the heater matrix there should be no water from an internal pollen filter so i think that needs reassessed if its the bulkhead thats leaking then youre looking in the wrong place guys since you thought the pollen filter was leaking it suggests it was not and is the actual bulkhead

Reasons why I thought one off the leak was pollen filter was coz front passenger foot well was wet and stoped the scuttle panel and wipers of and poured water and seems like it was comin into the car but since I replace the pollen filter the front passenger foot well is dry as a bone but the drivers foot well still getting wet
