Most blanks have a very good response if installed correctly, otherwise you might see misbehaviour such as loss of power, error lights, smoke and excessive noice

Thanks for the reply do you know if the blank will affect starting as my egr valve got stuck and the car wouldn't start until it got tapped by a hammer

By this I presume you leave the egr fitted to the car but slide in the blank !

Correct. The blank is placed between the engine and the EGR valve itself. It doesnt affect starting (certainly not on our cars anyway!) I think it must have been having a different reason for failure at the time. If it was stuck open for example and the tap loosened it.

Ah sorry; my bad

I thought it was the cats back legs that the dogs nose was hurried between,

But

On close examination of the image I see its actually the cats front legs the dog is at,

My joke was the dog likes lickin da pussey ;)

Hi guys thought I would let you know I fitted the egr blanking plate to the car seems to drive much cleaner and responsive unfortunately the engine management light came on but on the plus side gives me a good excuse to get it remapped now :-)

Good Result.

Just leave the light there, by all accounts, it seems that some engines eventually figure that your not listening and just stop telling you about the EGR :p

hi,

i've just read through this thread, but i still don't understand the reasoning behind 'blanking' the EGR off? why is it not blanked off as standard on the focus?

can someone explain please?

thanks :)

Hi there ! It's because it helps keep the cars emissions down by recirculating the exhausts gases through the engine again which is fine when brand new but when the egr valve gets coked up you start getting problems what car have you got ?
