hi i have a fiesta mk5 51 plate my boot release button works when it wants but when it does ive got to keep on pressing it but u hear it working then after 5 goes it opens but now it does not work what can this be cheers.

dont know if its the same as my EX mondeo ,but I had the same problem it was worn/dirty contact on the switch....new switch fixed the problem

Like Kristal said sounds like the contact is dirty, take the switch out and clean it try again if that fails a clean the contact point and then it should be ok touch wood. Check for any wear on the connection points as well

yeah same as in my mk5 fiesta, to start with i thought it was just not working but its only when the engine is off, this may just be happening to you but you dont realise it!

Yeah, that always annoyed me.

Funny thing is... now even with my engine turned off, my boot button does not work.

clean contacts in boot u should find this helps. they often get convered in green scaly stuff. zoe

I'll give it a go. I'll be selling mine soon, to trade for a Focus. And I want there to be as few excuses as possible for haggling the price down! :lol:

So service, mot + tax to do, minor touch ups, renewing the "ford" badges which have faded, replacing cracked rear cluster etc... just little things that complete it really.

As you described this is correct operation as it prevents the boot accidently opening whilst driving along, and mother in law falling out. :blink:

It also stops anybody opening your boot when you are stopped a traffic lights and nicking your stuff.

I imagine if they are in your car to press the boot release the contents of your boot are the least of your worries :D

I will need to try this tonight but i really think my boot opens via the boot release button as long as the car is stationery, not turned off.
