Airbag light flashing occasionally.

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 1997 Mk4 1.3 Ford fiesta.

I have a problem where sometimes the airbag light flashes. There is no pattern when this happens. I was told it could be the sensor in the seat?

Has anyone had this problem or know of a resolution.

Thanks,

Dan

To be honest I think you should seek professional advice on that. If there is a fault with the airbag and it deployed whilst driving could be dangerous.

I just checked, and it is four flashes. Which is to do with the seatbeat?

perhaps the connection under the seat?

When in the car with the seatbelt on try and lift yourself off the seat and see if the sensor creates a warning.

also, do you have any large shopping bags on the passenger seat? This can make the car thing there is a passenger in the car

Thats if it is the seatbelt warning

I was reading on the internet, that you have to unplug the yellow cable under the seat, as this is suppose to work?

that will probably disable the airbag for the passenger.

i had a similar problem on an escort i had a few years back . . .

they apparently have a airbag sensor behind the steering wheel which is

held in place by a plastic bracket . . . the idea is that if you crash the plastic snaps and

the airbag deploys . . . i believe the sensor on mine had shorted out so it thought the airbag

had been used . . . . .
