Senator Duck
Whilst washing my KA MK11. I noticed through the black plastic cover that the wipers pass through below the windscreen that rust had started and it was fairly advanced. So I had to remove this pressed steel cover at the upper rear of the engine compartment and and give it a very good cleaning and I found that rust had penetrated through the panel in a number of places. So I then gave it a good coating of Hammerite rust proofing under coat and then a couple of coats of Hammerite black top coat. Hope that this will keep it at bay for a while. Surely this should have been made out of plastic so that this problem would not have risen in the first place. Suggest that you all check this out because mine is not going to be the only one. COME ON FORD GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER ! Before you all think that I am a FORD knocker I love this KA Peter.

jeebowhite
Ordinarily Rust on Fords is only covered for the first 18-24 months max. On some cars its only 12 months. Sadly, never the less, it will be out of warranty and will likely not be honoured by Ford.
