Hi There Everyone :D

I feel a bit cheeky about asking this but I have been looking on this site for the last few days and you seem a very friendly bunch of car enthusiasts like myself and as i am interested in getting either the 1.4 Titanium (Body Kit & Blutooth) in White or to get the Zetec S in white with bluetooth i thought there is no one better to ask than those of you that already have one :D

The only fear i have is that the Zetec S is going to drink as much as the car i have now does (That being a 2008 207cc in blue with loadsa extras on it)

My pug is 1.6 Petrol and im lucky to get 30-35mpg combined.

SO my question to you all is:

What car do you have?

What size Engine is it?

Diesel or Petrol?

What sort of driving do you do in it?

and What combined MPG are you getting out of it?

and how many miles have you done so far?

Thank you for you help :)

Kind Regards

Lucy :D

I have a 1.4 titanium, and loving it, i wanted a 1.6 but got advised as i drive into london every day, it isnt going to get me there any quicker as im always stuck in slow traffic, sooo got a 1.4 in titanium with xtras, so saved money on 1.6 an spent it on different wheel, power button an key less entry.

what prices have you got so far from fords ? oooh and white? are u sure? lol

Thank you to those of you who have replied so far :)

my reasons for considering a 1.4 titanium is that i do an 8 mile round trip to work, stop start (roundabouts, junctions etc) and on the weekends i drive 25 mile to my boyfriends one way which is B roads.. so i can reach a steady 50-60 mph. I thought for those reasons that the titanium might be more economical for me.

THEN

My brain took over and made me start to think about the 1.6 Zetec S as it looks the cats whiskers!

hence why i am now stuck in this quandry :(

i will await further replies and see what people are telling me..

as far as prices go.... this is another major problem i am having...

for my 08 plate 207cc with cream leather, heated seats, rear parking sensors & Sports pack they will only give me £8500!

i OWE £5800 still on it.... which doesnt leave me very much of a deposit to get my monthly payments down.

the best my local ford can do it £230 a month over 5 YEARS!!! something i wont take up lightly, not only that they wanted me to buy a car without having even test driving it first..again something else i am not prepared to do.... am i on my own here? or am i being old fashioned?

I have no intention of buying without trying it first dont worry.

I was just shocked at how little they offered me for my car :(

the 1.4 Titanium with body kit & bluetooth in White would be the one I'd choose but check out 'deal drivers' - you might be able to save a fair few quid to put towards more optional extras ;)

i am leaning slightly more to the 1.4 petrol titanium.... is it under powered though? i heard that the old ones were?

£230 a month over 5 years with a £2.7k deposit seems an awful lot. What APR are they charging?

Like a previous poster, I use my 1.4 to get too & from work in rush hour london, its fine for that, I wouldn't say it was under powered - the new fezzy is lighter than the old one.

fell out with the 207cc??

at 6 months old it was recalled to have a new engine fitted after i had gone back to the garage at least 4 times and said to them that something was wrong with it!

New engine has been fitted now and all is dandy with the car... runs really nicely... its just a bit of a heavy drinker and the stop start journeys i do kills the fuel ... but looking at the figures at the moment, i may have to stick with it for another 6-9 months and review the situation then.

What car do you have? - Ford Fiesta Titanium X

What size Engine is it? - 1.6TiVCT

Diesel or Petrol? - Petrol

What sort of driving do you do in it? - Commuting 90 miles per way to Nottingham for University & city driving

and What combined MPG are you getting out of it? - Iv'e heard about 37mpg - 47mpg

and how many miles have you done so far? - 0, It's still being built lol.

Hey lucy, welcome to the forums.

IMO, the Titanium is far nicer than the Zetec S. Not only do you get a lot more as standard, but it also have all the lovely retro chrome around the windows etc, finishes the car off lovely I rekon. White, however? Have you looked at Sea Gray (very nice) or the blue? Thats very nice too :)

The 1.4 is far from underpowered. As someone else stated the new fiesta's are 40(g?) lighter than the old ones, and the engine is much smarter too!

If I were you I would go for the 1.4 Titanium with tech pack and body kit in blue?

That would look lush! Of cause, its your choice.

Have a test drive - You will be hooked. As my dealer said... "We don't have to sell the car, the test drive does that for us!". He was sooo right! lol.

Let us know how you get on :)

Good evening Lucy and welcome aboard!

I would advise you to get the 1.6 Titanium or the Zetec S because:

i) the price difference is negligible.

ii) you already have a 1.6 so if you chose a 1.4 you'd be disappointed.

iii) mpg is also negligable--depending on how you drive of course.

As you can see, I have the 1.6 with all the toys and I get 40--42 mpg at present but I'll get a bit more once the engine's a bit looser.

My mileage is approx 25 per day and it's a mix of urban & country roads.

Some people have suggested Dealdrivers but I would recommend that you research the average prices in your area then get one of your local dealers to supply the car as that way at least you have a comeback should anything go wrong plus you'll get preferential treatment when it comes to servicing etc.

Like you, I part exchanged a cabriolet (mine was an Astra) and like you I took a massive massive hit on it because basically they are just not selling--specialist type of car you see.

Whatever you do, try to get a test drive just to make sure etc.

Good luck and have fun test driving them--after all you might need more than one test drive............ ;) ;) ;)

I've not had a test drive. I just sat in it twice

I'm doing the lease thing where I part exchange my old astra £300, hand over £200 deposit and walk away with a new mota. The monthly cost is £230 per month for 3 years and after that I can refinance or buy it outright or get a new car. Meh, I'll see how I feel!

Hiya lucy, welcome to FOC. :D

I agree with hedgepig on the fact if you already own a 1.6 and get a 1.4, you will notice the difference an probably be disappointed. The Zetec S will probably drink more fuel too.

I always vote for having more gadgets as you can always get the enigne remapped or tuned later if you want more out of it.

I currently drive a 04 fiesta 1.4 flame but have just bought an 06 focus 1.6 zetec climate 3dr.

Trust you're instincts I always do.

Enjoy your stay at FOC ;)

You need to test drive a 1.4 and a 1.6 - on the same route.

Whilst you have a 1.6 in your 207cc that car is a lot heavier ( becauseit is a cc) than a standard hatchback - so the difference in performance between the 1.4 and 1.6 may not be as noticeable.

Also that is part of the reason your economy is affected as the 1.6 engine in your 207cc has to work harder than in a normal hatch to carry all that extra weight.

Because you do short journeys you will not improve your economy much either way, even buying a diesel would not be cost effective.

im afraid to say that i have decided not to buy a new car at the moment... i dont want to have to be paying out for it over the next 5 years... when in 2 years ill have finished paying for the pug...

i was hoping it would be do-able but sadly this is not the case... the garages wont give me anywhere near to what i had thought i would get for my car :(

Thank you all for your help and advice though... you have prevented me from making another mistake in my life.

Kind Regards

Lucy
