This may sound like a very stupid question but would spraying your alloys class as a modification?

I have always thought 'If you change it from when it came out of the factory its a modification'

Better to be safe than sorry. No matter how small the change to your car, just fire off a letter to your insurers via recorded/signed for delivery, so they can update your policy. Insurers will wrangle their way out of a claim via any means necessary, so don't give them any ammunition. Below is an example of the the letter I fire off after I do a bunch of mods, so as to avoid an admin fee per mod.

Policy No: XXXXX

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to inform you of the following modifications I have made to my vehicle. None of these modifications affect the performance of the car of the car, nevertheless I am declaring them as per the terms and conditions of my policy agreement.

List your mods.

Yours sincerely

Your insurer may want to discuss the modification over the phone as well, after receiving your letter.

Ben, do they tend to knock the price up?

Your not wrong about them getting out anyway they can and playing it safe is always best. I am about to be swapping to the zetec s grill's, would you reccon this is worth declaring or safe enough?

Yeah.... its nothing really but would rather be safe than sorry. Couldn't think of anything worse than having a crash and my insurance telling me they would not pay out. The only thing they said was if the car was crashed then they would replace my car with a standard one.
