I'm looking at getting one of these cameras has anybody got any pics of it Installed near the rain sensor without the windscreen mount?

How hard is it to hard wire for a newb ;-)

It's as simple as things get, no need to splice any wires on the car etc

I'm torn between one of these and a mini 0801

Anybody velcro'd the mobius to the underside of the auto windscreen wiper box?

In the middle of doing this myself using Kurt's guide. I have decided to make my wn mount to keep it very compact and hidden.

I'm in the middle of installing front and rear, but only in receipt of one camera and cable as yet. Simply because I was only going to do a front install but then I became smitten with idea of being covered back and front

I can post up photo's later today maybe if I have time. The rear is done[hard wired] on home made bracket not mounted on tailgate.

Though I did buy a suction and a 3M bracket, as not sure which one to use,but I've opted for home made jobs but using the threaded part sawn bought brackets ball arms, along with the plastic covered

tightening nuts. This gives you adjustable horizontal movement on your home made brackets. Vertical

adjustment is achieved by bending the bracket, of course for that you need plyable metal, for the front

bracket I used one of those blanking plates you remove to add an additional card to a Desk top PC Tower [usually half a dozen per tower ] so if you don't like or want to improve on your first attempt..... ;)

Originally I mocked up a front bracket after not being happy with the bought mount positions on the windscreen . Indeed if I don't totally hide the lense in the rain sensor housing via a cable extension [not much room in there!, so in two minds wither to attempt it] I'm going to position it on a bracket afixed to the back of the RS housing. Easy to swivel to take video from either side of the car, easy to clip out the camera to take with you. easy to see flashing record light on camera rear. And it looks neat sits just level with the bottom of the rear view mirror, And takes full screen unobstructed views, no bits of rain sensor housing looking like you have a big spider trapped in the lense

Rear camera I need material longer than one of those blanking plates, and as everything depends on what materials I have to hand. For that bracket I used a large stainless steel Circ Clip, sawed tightneing screw part off, and bent what remaind back to straight to start off with. [That was a two attempt job] First one, I found was producing vibraiting video, I thought it was because the part fixed to the Shell of the car was not long enough. So I made another, longer one but that was even worse, but I found the solution.

You see it was vibrating because it was attached to the roof Shell in the rear of the cabin via sticky pads, and being made from a circ clip [very springy material] it was transmitting road imperfections to the camera.

Well because the camera sits up tight to the top of the tail gate when the tailgate is closed. It sits back from the rear glass [very neat looking from the outside looking in, no bracket showing at all] with the bracket plastic locking nut sitting just mm from the plastic trim of the tailgate, all it needed was a rubber tap washer or two, or in my case a rubber grommet [kind that fits in a hole in a metal socket box to protect the cable] well find what works best an super glue to the top of the bracket tightening nut.

Now regards your eBay choices, you can get cheaper

3M from Mobius supplier £2.80,

Suction mount £0.99

The 3M converter cable is best being the left handed variant because it sits better across the back of the camera body, remember the camera will be positioned upside down in situ, so you can get to the control buttons.

Your link at time of writing for the OTG cable is the same link for the 3M cable so don't know what your intending paying but this one is £0.99

Kingston 32GB is cheaper from Amazon £10.31 with amazon being the seller you know its genuine, I got that one.

And I've orded the 64GB one for my front facing camera running at 1080, I will get 9 hours of driving recorded befor it over writes. Rear running at 720 will give me circa 11 hours of driving stored.

Not telling what to do, just pointing out other possible choices to consider, after all we are all here to help one another :)

Has anybody managed to put the camera in the windscreen sensor box would involve a little cutting using the extension cable as seen here

Got my Möbius installed. I made a diy mount for it to make it more compact. I will link to my thread here. I don't have a auto dim or raIn sensors so it may help people with an install on the standard mirror.

David,

what those who know [in regard to the Mobius] like the guy who wrote the Mobius manual says is this: There is no advantage to be gained in using a higher Class card than a Class 4. What he is saying is this, paying the extra for a higher Class of card does not make the results any better.

However as technology moves on, with newer bigger memory cards are usually of a higher class. For instance I've also bought this one a Class 10 64GB Kingston after being assured it is compatiable on the Dash Cam Talk forum [good souce of info if considering buying a dash cam]

Re the OTG cable you linked to,

OK one end goes in your phone /Tablet other end in the camera, trouble you will have there is the lenth of cable between the two.

Buy that one I linked to then connect a mini USB male [conects to camera] to USB male connected cable, the later end you connect to the female USB socket on the other end of the OTG cable I refered to which then connects to your phone.

Other wise in situ you are going to be scrunched up behind the rear view mirror phone in hand but unable to use it to see the screen on your phone to scroll through the settings.

Photo's

Also when the hardwire 12v to 5v converter cable came for the front cam, I found out I could not conceal the converter in the headling. As the 16cm of cable mini USB end, would not reach to the Mobius where I had positioned it. No matter I decided to hide it behind the plastic trim that conceals the Rain Sensor and Auto Dimming Mirror wires. Just had to file the trim down abit where it was fashioned around the mirror ball socket, so the cable could exit to connect to the cam.

Great job on the rear view mount. I like it. Have you been using your two Möbius long and how reliable do you find them?

I'm looking into a rear view one as well. Have you got this hardwired in?

Great job any chance you could take a few close up pics of the front bracket/rain sensor?

Do you think you could hide the camera in the rain sensor and maybe cut a little hole? only prob i was thinking with this idea is would the camera be sitting to high up?

Are you going to hardwire the front cam?

I've got to wait till the end of the month until i've funds.

Thanks,

I have only received the one A lense Mobius that came last Monday, and the one hard wire cable that came this Saturday. You see I was only intending doing the front for now.

So I tried the Mobius in different positions on the windscreen on a mount, did road tests. Then I fashioned a mount for the rear of the sensor housing, did road tests, all on the Mobius battery you understand.

When the cable came on Saturday I fashioned a couple of brackets for the rear view Mobius [using the one camera to set it up] Like I say I made two brackets because I [wrongly as it happens] thought the first one was causing the camera to produce vibrating videos. On making a revised second bracket I came to the conclusion the problem lay elswhere, hence the solution with the rubber grommet.

You see windscreen mounted, or home made brackets mounted cameras attached to say the rain sensor housing. themselves attached to the windscreen. Dont suffer from vibration because the rubber seals around said screens absorb the vibrations transmitted from the road though the wheels to the body Shell . Hence when I attached my rear view bracket to the body Shell.....

Anyhow once I solved the vibration problem, I thought sod it, I'll use the one 3M 12v to 5v cable I have to hard wire the rear camera. I ran the cable across the rear of the roof, then down the "B" Pillar, the Ground wire was just long enought to connect to either of the Ground points in the front passenger side sill area. The Positive wire I had to extend a bit to reach the fuse board.

I took the decision to have both cams on their own cables wired back to a shared piggy back fuse on fuse number 108. Decided against tapping into the interior lighting circuit, so if either cable turns out to be less than reliable, they will not cause the interior lighting to fail, or me having to faff about fishing the inline fuse connector out of the roof headling, for testing.

So there you have it, as to reliability, to earlier to say, but my expereince with the camera, and what I've read about others experiences with the Mobius over on the Dash Cam Talk forum. Led me to order a "B" lense Mobius for the front as I was that impressed by the one I have, and another hard wire cable .Expecting camera to arrive possibly this Saturday if I'm lucky [bracket made and fixed in position] And again if I'm lucky the hard wire cable should be here by the following Saturday.

I much prefer your idea of extending the wire rather than tapping into any lights on the car, that would make the hard wiring a little more complex

Yes thats what i was thinking im a bit worried about ruining the rain sensor cover i was trying to see how much they were to buy online but cant find them

The 8" one is just over £4, now the Mobius manufacturer and eBay seller Kurt linked to at the beginning of the thread [and whom I bought my camera from] sells them. Now I received an email back from them today [Mandy] as I enquired if they did a longer cable, ANSWER CAME BACK NO the 8" [20cm] one is currently the only one they do. Though they are working on a longer one but not sure when they will have it.

My thinking regards possibly using a longer cable was that having aTitanium spec I have a Sun Glasses Case attached to the roof by the driver grab handle...........me thinking, good hiding place for the camera body if cable extension long enough. Now they are hoping to do a longer cable [#16 camera they do 8"/15" and 25" cables] but extending cable lengths can lead to technical problems.

One thing you do notice with the Mobius manufacture, they try and get things right, rushing to market is not their first priority

Now the above was backed up by the fact I found out on the DCT forum [a must join forum] that the makers don't list all they sell, on eBay, I reckon because they are so busy as it is. But they told me in that email today they also have in stock the B lense Mobius, but then it could go out of stock very quickly hence they don't list them on eBay [because of the demand from their authorised sellers I assume ] But would have to be through PayPal not eBay. Not a problem that.

Unfortuneatly last time I asked that question they said they were not selling the B Lense Mobius via eBay because of supply problems. So I went and ordered one from Bang~good, would rather had ordered it via the manufacture because the other one they supplied arrive in eight day, Not a clue how long Bang~good will take to deliver.

So remember when emailing them, they do struggle sometimes to understand what your writing , for instance in that email I sent them, I told them I had purchased a B lense Mobius from Bang~good, saying I still did not understand why they dont sell them. Then I get the reply.......if I want one they will sell me one............That said their English understanding trumps my Chinese every day of the week

Now regards photo's of Rain Sensor housing space, well it would be a tight one if indeed it's possible at all. Think on, 8" extension cable installed aligned, and at same time attached to Mobius body it's self attached to back of mirror. Then the need to beable to get to same for memory card access, replacing battery in time.....

Look you got to do some ground work yourself mate, take the housing off, it can be a struggle see what your up against. Then there are possible interferance issues to contend with, but there are fixes out there. I could tell you everything , but better you empower yourself by reading this thread if it wont load for you register, as you need to do that to view photo stuff.

Nice install for the rear mobius. Couple questions:

Did you run the cables through the roof lining to get to the back.

Which fuse did you use to power the mobius or did you tap into the existing cable for the front mobius

Did you use a DC cable longer than 3m for the rear cam or was the 3m one long enough.

Cheers

I think the way i would do it for speed/ease is use the existing wiring for the front cam and poke a long rod from back of headling to the interior light tie a wire to it then pull it back through. Then splice the 12v-5v transformer onto the wire at the rear end.
