I looked at those, just couldn't find one reasonably priced so just went with a light one at a fraction of the price, its not that far from centre, only thing is you cant see the sides of the car in the picture but yeah, if you can find a handle one for a good price or don't mind spending money on it, then its the best option, in any case, both of them im sure are still perfect for driving up to my partners festa to within a few mm :)

Im considering replacing that whole boot fitting with the chome one though so I may look at changing it as your right about the light spread, the plate is still visible but isn't symmetrical which isn't right :)

Lenny, Matthew sends you his regards at MFK Autocare. How did you find the place? At least I only had to drive from Mullingar. You came from Wexford! And how did you find out about their company?

Google found there company and they have coordinates post on there website, put them in to the tomtom Satnav which took me right to the door,

Top quality job done mate id have traveled from cork or letterkenny just the same, i believe distance is nothing when you have an agenda :) its worth making efforts to meet the specialists

I got lost along the way as Google Maps had their company at the wrong place. Thankfully it was only a few hundred metres off.

Like you said, leave it to the specialists to do a proper job. This was more preventive than anything. The dpf wasn't clogged and inside it was mostly white thankfully. Tuning box out, remap done and car revs much smoother. Power delivery is over a wider rev range and the car doesn't feel like it's running out of puff past 2,500 rpm. Very happy with the results and looking forward to my road trip to Wales next week!

Should see an increase in MPG when driven on a few long journeys,

Good to see the tuning box out as they only over fuel the engine,

ECU remap controls alot more parimeters to provide a bespoke power increase that is both economical and the powers there on the pedal should ypu desire to floor it,

Im sure you can sell on the tuning box on eBay some people still like em.

Update: So after running the car for 3 days with a mixture of motorway, national road and town driving, I must say that it behaves differently but not a huge amount from the tuning box.

The spikes in power have completely gone and the power delivery is very smooth in the rev range. I was driving my wife's Seat Leon 1.6 petrol n/a over the week as well and the remapped diesel feels a lot like a n/a car. That surge in power that was present before when the turbo kicked in is gone which is quite nice as was jarring at times when driving.

Readout for the mpg says 58.1 mpg and when I fill up the tank next, I will know from the app on the the phone what is the actual average mpg. If I get anywhere in the region of 50-55mpg, this will pay for itself by saving me on fuel over the next few months with the amount of driving I do.

Also, the low end torque is very usable and when you need to overtake another car quickly, the power is there to be used, which makes overtaking a breeze, especially when you have a long slow moving truck.

Next update will be about mpg.

Next upgrade for the car I think will be the rear sway bay. Considering the Whiteline one which I think I will probably get a mechanic to install. I reckon it will not take too long as it's a few bolts that hold the sway bar. These might be seized and require more powerful tools/bigger tools which I don't have, so I will leave it to the professional to install it.

Any ideas where I could order this online? Whiteline BMR78XZ is the item code

Demon Tweaks is a reputable uk supplier of Whiteline products or SumoPower,

The Whitline company themselves are based in Australia,

When fitting if your purchasing an adjustable rear sway bar ensure they know which holes on the sway bar you want bolted because if they match the factory setup you wont feel any difference,

Car should turn in more sharply with a harder sway bar on the rear it does wear down rear tyres faster though as its pushing down harder on the road when you turn,

Thanks for the link and video Lenny.

Saw it on Demon Tweaks but I have never bought anything from them. Might call Pro Parts here as well as they are a registered supplier.

Agreed about knowing which setting I want the bar to be in. Think I will go for medium to start and see how it feels. It just annoys me that anyone inside the car is rocked sideways if I go round any bend, even at a low speed.

That MCM video was where I got the idea. I have looked underneath the car and know what bolt to remove but they look stuck in.

Sway bar will increase that because it will push down harder on your springs mate,

Need lower harder springs and low profile tyres with reinforced side wall to prevent the flexing this way the hole thing stays rigid,

Then your sway bar comes in to play to increase pressure on the hard springs to help it turn in because its more rigid,

Have you had the dpf removed? Custom remaps are a lot better than a tunning box, bet your well happy. :)

Thanks for the info Lenny. The future plans still include getting the Bilstein b12 pro kit and I thought that in the meantime, I could just get the sway bars fitted as they ate not too expensive even with fitting included.

I plan to do the mods one bit at a time like I did with the audio install.

If you find anywhere I could get the bars for cheaper, please let me know. So far, with shipping they come to around €240-250. Not including fitting.

Dpf removed, dpf delete and car remapped.

Very happy with the results so much. Much smoother than with the tuning box. No power surges/spikes and I can rev the car past 3k rpm without it sounding lime a bag of nails.

I might sell the tuning box on the forum if anyone is interested. Nothing wrong with it if anyone wants a removable option.

How's your car keeping up with the new remap?

Cool, awesome.....love driving it. As yours, really smooth, no spikes. Mpg staying about 50....will go up when I go for some longer drives. :)

Good to hear. After you got yours, I was even more tempted to get mine remapped seeing the torque curve and power curve.

My mpg is saying 56-57mpg on the car display. I will need to confirm at the next fillup of the actual average as I don't trust the car readouts but rather my own calculations when I brim the tank. If I get anything between 50-55mpg, the fuel savings will pay off the remap.

I'm liking the subwoofer encloser. I've got a single 10" sub, but it takes up room in the boot. Did you buy the one from eBay after all?

I got an app called Mileage on Android that does the job very well with lots of stats such as money spent per month, year etc. Do check it out.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evancharlton.mileage

Have not got mine on a rolling road next and I was seriously thinking about that. Then, I thought that others who are based in Ireland might be interested to make a day out of it and if we could get a few cars on the rolling road and being part of the owners club, we might get a discount.

Lenny, would you be interested in a rolling road for your car?

I must say, the enclosure if really well made and you can get it from a few sellers on eBay. I got lucky by ordering from Radio World and it was delivered no problem at all to Ireland for a reasonable postage price. Lenny on the other hand had big difficulties with the same seller and in the end it was not a pleasant experience. He might tell you more himself.

Bass Junkies seller has one for £20 more than Radio World. If you want to look at their feedback scores for each and then decide

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Focus-MK2-2004-11-10-25cm-Custom-Car-Subwoofer-Sub-MDF-Box-Bass-Enclosure-/251490215834?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3a8dfc279a

With regards to space, that was my main reason for getting the custom sub enclosure. It takes very little space and I have ample room in the boot now for a pram and a whole bunch of other things for the little one. Plus, it's solidly made, the carpet is nice and easy to clean. Depending on the subwoofer you have, check the specs that they need i.e volume for the sub to see if it matches. My JL Audio 10W0V3 specs matches the enclosure very well and the sound quality is very good. Don't expect very loud volumes from it as it isn't ported. If you want to hear quality bass and enjoy the subtleties in the music, then this is highly recommended :)
