Can anyone please point me in the right direction on a cheap new one please?? Looked on eBay but loads on there lol. Stoney871 Posted February 10, 2014 Share Posted February 10, 2014 If your car has easyfuel then there isn't a cap fitted although you can get a locking cap for easyfuel cars but they're not cheap. Stoney871 Posted February 10, 2014 Share Posted February 10, 2014 Easyfuel is the system Ford use whereby a fuel cap is not used. The inside of the filler neck has flaps that only open with a fuel pump nozzle or a back-up funnel Ford supply with Easyfuel cars. Matey Posted June 7, 2015 Share Posted June 7, 2015 Stoney says "You can get a locking cap for added security but only available from the US as far as I can tell." this was posted a few months back so - just wondered - I have a mk III Focus 12 plate and I want to get a locking cap, yes I have easy fuel system but I came out of my house a few days ago, somebody had opened the petrol flap :o Went down to Halfords, New Malden yesterday thinking I would ask the staff to FIT me a locking cap, as they are great on fitting car batteries etc but they do not stock any locking caps there at all Which one would fit ? I might just order it and "hope" it fits when it arrives (unless anyone can say which one will fit) it's just about peace of mind - this wouldn't be an issue if you had a garage that you parked the motor in overnight, I haven't got that so any Tom !Removed! or Harry can saunter up to my car and open the petrol flap if they want to. :( if I had a locking cap on there I'd just feel better about it, psychological ^_^ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

TomsFocus Posted June 7, 2015 Share Posted June 7, 2015 It doesn't matter if someone opened the filler flap...anyone can. The point of the system is that you can't get past the metal flaps inside unless you use the correct sized nozzle, which is either the petrol pump or the 'emergency' nozzle in your boot. TomsFocus Posted June 7, 2015 Share Posted June 7, 2015 I'm pretty sure it does, lock the car, open the plastic flap and try sticking your emergency filler in, I doubt it'll go in, the metal flap should still be locked solid. Matey Posted June 7, 2015 Share Posted June 7, 2015 the exterior petrol flap doesn't lock. and if you park your car in the street or in public anybody can come along and open the flap. the fact that they cannot actually syphon fuel out after that may not be known to them and the fact that they can't PUT stuff into your petrol opening, could also not be obvious to them, so they will TRY the scene where you come out in the morning and find the petrol flap open is annoying if not alarming, but if the person opening it sees a locked petrol cap instead of an open pipe - MAYBE that will do something to put them off trying or buggering about with someone else's car SO ... has anybody bought a locking cap for a Focus III? where do you get it? :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The part number of this lockable filler cap is 8U5Z-9C268-B. However this is a specific USA part which is not sold in Europe. A ford dealer may charge additional costs for ordering such parts. The lockable filler cap can often also be found on eBay for about 20 to 25 Dollars. Directly buying it in the USA may be cheaper than ordering it from a local Ford dealer. Stoney871 Posted June 7, 2015 Share Posted June 7, 2015 It is impossible to syphon from an easyfuel car. You can put liquid in using the emergency funnel but nothing will come out. I have done vehicle stops with HMRC dipping tanks for agricultural diesel and they can't even get a pipe the size of a straw down the filler even using the correct funnel. Tbh if I saw someone trying to put something in mine I'd probably just film it for a laugh... They won't get anywhere with it. If they've got any sense they'll just carry a screwdriver and pierce the tank... Also anything they try to put in (are you making enemies where you live? ) will just end up on the floor anyway. Everytime I pull the diesel pump out I try to let the last dribble go in the tank rather than the paintwork but it always ends up higher than the easyfuel cut off and dribbles on the floor lol. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
