The Bear
Hi guys, Mother Bear has a 2006 Ford Fusion 1.6 ''+''. Really nice car. It's obviously not fast but it is very comfortable and perfect for her purposes. It's also soooo !Removed! easy to service :) Anyway, I had to drive it a few weeks back and came to doing a full lock turn to get out of a cul-de-sac. Car stalled....even though it's an auto. How jolly !Removed! I thought. Anyway a bit of research and it's possible that somethings wrong with the PAS pressure switch; either the switch is bad and needs replacing or (what I suspect most) is the wiring is damaged as it's location is close to the exhaust manifold. Does anyone know how to test this? I'm imagining it gets a constant voltage this backprobing it and hooking up a multi-meter looking for batt. voltage? And then check the resistance of the switch itself.... anyone know what expected resistance should be? Finally anyone got a pic of the switch in situ.? Save me chasing a wild goose :)
The Bear
Ok, we have a Ford Mundane-o (53 plate) at college that they're scrapping it due to the motor vehicle section being rebuilt..... everyone's getting bits off it they need should they have a Ford. Will the pas pressure switch off that fit the Con-Fusion? :)
The Bear
Well, got the PAS pressure switch out of the Mondane-o at college...... two second job as it's located right by the PAS pump on top. It looks the same one in the Google images so hopefully it will fit. I'm thinking one way of testing it though would be to have the car up on stands and running (in 'Park' of course), turn the steering full lock and then disconnect the switch and observe the revs. Quite a crude way of testing of course because the sensor could be ''failing'' as opposed to ''failed''. I'll grab the multimeter though and post up some values if anyone's interested.... may help if anyone has a similar problem in't future :)
The Bear
Hi guys, just messing about with pictures trying to add them up. :)
The Bear
Aha! Excellent. Right, pictured above is the pressure switch pulled from the Mondeo. Now I know how to post I can add them on as I take them :)

The Bear
Got ya, Dan! As I'm still learning (especially with electrics)...... when you say closed switch.... do you mean that it constantly makes a circuit until high pressure stops it.... or it's a dormant system until high pressure makes a circuit (thus giving a signal to the ECU)? Just trying to understand how it works as electrics aren't my strong point as I've only learned about them from the net.... I still have that subject to cover at college :) Ps, is there any chance you could post up the wiring diagram and perhaps test procedures? :)
The Bear
Images from me testing the resistance of the switch. 01.1 ohms on the 200ohm scale. Does that read 11ohms?
The Bear
Ok, wondering why pic 3 didn't turn out lol
