glorybee
Hi. I'm new to the forum, but wondered if someone could help. Driving down the duel carriageway the other night, overtaking another car, when I heard a sound that could only be described as air escaping. Immediately, I lost all acceleration (foot to the floor struggling to get the car above 50 mph) and started getting very large blooms of blue smoke from the exhaust. The lack of acceleration continued and the smoke got worse the faster I went. Basically under throttle it is like having a fog machine attached to the back of the car. I suspect the turbo has blown, but have also been told it could be the head gasket. How do I tell if it is the turbo and not the head gasket? Mike77
Check all the hoses that go to and from the turbo first.... There should be a metal one on the left hand side of the engine (from memory) which is prone to splitting. Any of these hoses drawing air in could cause your symptoms.
