theballboy
Hi all. Doing my research here from n.ireland before taking the plunge. Had a facelift cougar 2.5v6 some years back which has been the best driving car iv had to date. But 28mpg and £400 tax year put an end to that bought a mk3 pre face lift mondeo for better economy and was a great driving motor also with better economy but had a huge range of modern diesel issues. Injectors, flywheels, and eventually the starter motor broke up and found its way into the fuel system which was a common problem with them. However.... I'm really interested in the mondeo titanium sport. But I'm worried about the reliability hence registered here to get some more answers on the reliability and current pricing of parts. Any responses to this greatly appreciated so heading on over to the mondeo section to post on this issue. Thanks all

theballboy
3rd attempt at responding on my phone. Currently driving an accord at the mo. So just looking for some info on faults (buyers guide what to look out for kinda thing) before I pull the trigger Regards ur own scenario. If the issue u have is accompanied by any form of knocking sound them I'd say it most prob is the flywheel. If it is its certainly not exclusive to ford vehicles. Modern diesels all of them will encounter this most likely in all makes
xdazx
Theres no knocking it just getting started the problem is she runs smooth when it starts should do cost a grand for fuel pump rail etc
theballboy
!Removed!. That sucks. A whole fuel rail and pump?
theballboy
A lot of newer diesels require clutch press to start (hyundai etc)though i take it this is a newly occurring issue for you?
xdazx
Yeh the while lot now he wants to fit a new dualmass and clutch but im looking at £500 for that :( and yeh its a new problem as it used to start without the clutch aving to b in
theballboy
Fine if he's sure that's the problem. (Ie if u keep the car long long enough it's something that'll need done with every motor and £500 is fine for that bty) but needs to guarantee that that is the actual issue
xdazx
Thats 1 thing he cannot do
theballboy
Maybe take it somewhere else. But if ye can ask them to guarantee the work then no worries. Iv a problem with mechanics having a go at fixing stuff just by trying things to see if it sorts it. Not good enough. Diagnose the problem. Fix it. Get paid. Simple as.
