Monz87
I used to have a cheap phone vent holder on my previous Audi, which has a typical standard air vent. I can't seem to find one for the s-max. I do see on the addison lee galaxy's they have something plugged into the vent, which holds their radio. Does anyone know of anything? Really looking for something cheap.
Stoney871
Srarch for Brodit. Not the cheapest but definitely the best.
Monz87
Thanks, but to be honest, for those prices, i'd rather pay for a cheap suction mount and whack it on the glass on the corner so it doesn't really get in the way, i don't really like them though
137699
Seriously - you've got £6000+'s worth of S-max but won't pay £30 for a decent Brodit mount?
Danwel
Yeah but doesn't the iPhone need to have no case or bumper on to fit?? Sure I read that somewhere
higgsy
Just get the brodit holder tailored for the car then the appropriate sized universal mount which will then hold any phone Sent from my Nexus 5 using Ford OC mobile app
137699
Higsy is spot on. That's what undid with mine - bought the Brodit bracket then added a £5 universal holder from my local market.
Monz87
I'm a bit tight on funds at the moment that's why. What kind of bracket is it that you put a non brodit holder on the bracket? Any pics?
Monz87
Higsy is spot on. That's what undid with mine - bought the Brodit bracket then added a £5 universal holder from my local market. If I was to putchase this mount: What kind of cheap holder can I buy for it, I can't even see any screw holes, how do the original holders / cheap holders even fit onto these? I've seen some videos of mounts which have screws but i'm confused with this one.
137699
Here's a photo of what I have in mine.... you just need to use some self tapping screws onto the brodit plate:
Monz87
But can you show me an example of a holder that would fit like on eBay or something Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
137699
It's not difficult... Search eBay for universal phone holder or go to your market & find one. All you need is any phone holder that attaches by screws - you put the screws into the Brodit mount - job done. The airvent ones usually have slide in clips - take these out, slide over screwheads - equally job done.

Don't mean to sound dumb, but all the universal holders are either suction cup ones or vent holders, I can't see how I would put screws through the back of them onto the brodit mount... Stoney871
Search for Tetrax. Stick the magnetic mount to the Brodit vent bracket.
137699
You buy one with the air vent mount - the air vent mounts have little stubs which slot into recesses on the back of the mount. Find 2 screws with the same size head as the stubs from the vent mount - screw these onto the brodit plate - then slide the mount over them. It's very easy to see how it works once you receive the mount.
Monz87
That makes sense, but as per my picture above, there is no screw holes on the brodit mount?
Stoney871
You offer the holder up to the mount, mark the position of the holes, make pilot holes on the mount with a small drill bit and then use self-tapping screws. Our Force uses Brodit mounts for various bits of kit and that's how the fitters do it.
Monz87
Really? So even if you bought a brodit mount and holder, you would have to drill holes in it? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Stoney871
Yes. The mounts are designed to be universal so any screw on holder can be fitted.
Monz87
Oh I didn't know that, it obviously isn't made of hard plastic then, must be a soft material Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

137699
Buy the side one instead - mounts onto the side of the centre console next to the HVAC controls.
Penners
thanks, but not sure what one you mean I found this clip will be the solution http://www.brodit.com/product.html?id=653866&pn=prod&brand=Ford&model=S-Max&year=2011
