I loved the St diesel but disappointed in engine choice so rs it is plus with borris diesel charge it's put me off a bit

The new focus diesels (except for 1.6) are all euro vi anyway so there would be no borris charge one them.

Even the 180 bhp tuned 2.0L St diesel? Either way I'm still disappointed with it

Can't see any reason it wouldn't be as it is just a tuned version of the 150.

ST is coming December time though I think.

That's exactly why I am disappointed, just an exhaust, intercooler and filter

Also, the ST will have revised suspension, bodykit, and probably stronger internal engine parts. I think stock it will be decent but tuned, even better. A great starting point fir those of us who do a lot of miles and wabt some fun too from a diesel :)

St engine doesn't get any upgrades at all. Only ecu changes for the esp system

There is only so much torque you can put through the front wheels without a diff though. The 2.0 tdci in standard tune matches the petrol ST for torque as it is. The diesel ST has even more...

IMHO, more torque is more usable fun on the roads, without getting a speeding ticket. I can't wait for the Diesel ST to be out so I can book a test drive :)

Sun Motors review:

okokokookok.28.620x413.jpg?resize=1000x1

New look… The Focus, available in November, has been given a makeover... IT’S easy to spot the difference.

The world’s favourite car, the Ford Focus, will get a striking new look, from November.

It’s smarter inside too with an 8in touchscreen and less clutter. But what you can’t see under the skin is Ford’s brilliant new 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. And there’s NO change in starting prices.

The entry level model is held at £13,995 and the top spec Titanium is £100 cheaper. We had an exclusive first drive in Malaga, Spain.

First impressions?

Focus sales totalled 1,097,618 last year, making it the world’s best-selling car. Even the Pope has one. Now it’s even better value and shares the new Ford family nose with the Fiesta and the new Mondeo.

The grille, bumper, headlights and sculpted bonnet are all different — and the back end has slimmer tail lights and a new spoiler.

How does it drive?

Fords are always fun to drive and the new Focus has even better handling. My test included fast, smooth A-roads and rough twisty mountain roads and the Focus turned in brilliantly. It’s all down to little tweaks with the suspension and shock absorbers and a stiffer front end.

ererer.28.620x413.jpg?resize=1000x1000&b

Handling… The Focus takes to mountain roads brilliantly

But it gets better. The current Focus already has the award-winning 1-litre Eco-Boost, chosen by one in three UK buyers for its performance and efficiency. The new 1.5-litre EcoBoost is more responsive and does 0-62mph in 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 130mph, yet returns 51mpg. Definitely my pick.

I also tested the new TDCi diesel engine in the estate and fuel economy is up 10 per cent — and it’s 10 per cent cleaner.

Now for Ford’s party trick.

The current Focus can already self steer in and out of parking spaces parallel to the road. The new Focus can self steer into parking bays at right angles to the road, like at Tesco or your local multistorey car park.

Push a button, let go of the steering wheel and watch the car reverse in between cars while you control the pedals. It’s mad but magic. Even Dynamo would be impressed.

mmmmm.28.620x413.jpg?resize=1000x1000&bu

New shape… The 2014 Focus has slimmer tail lights

There’s also an advanced version of Active City Stop which scans the road ahead 50 times every second to stop you hitting the car in front.

If you don’t react to slowing traffic, the Focus will automatically brake, reduce engine torque and flick on the rear hazard lights. But it only works up to 30mph — I nearly pranged it going faster!

What’s it like inside?

Cleaner, quieter and more upmarket. I didn’t like the old Nokia phonestyle dashboard with 50-plus buttons. This is much simpler with the 8in SYNC 2 touchscreen for satnav, music and phone. It’s still not as easy as some TomTom-based satnavs I’ve tested but it is still a major step up.

And it does have voice commands. Say “Alton Towers” and it will bring up directions. Or tell it to “ring home”, play a certain song or lower the air con and it will. And get this. Say “I’m hungry” and it will find places to eat. Neat. There’s a bigger display screen between the speedo and rev counter and easier steering wheel controls.

inugyu.28.620x413.jpg?resize=1000x1000&b

Inside… Features include hands-free parking and a 8in touchscreen

The new adjustable sliding cup holder easily passed my drive-thru drink test and there are two USBs and two 12v ports for all the family to charge their smartphones.

But there is a downside. The windscreen cameras sit too low behind the rearview mirror for my liking and block your vision, especially at traffic lights.

VERDICT: More efficient, more advanced, more quality and more value. Hard to beat.

Key facts - FORD FOCUS TITANIUM

The mk3 is so ugly. Ford should never have released it looking like that. Mk3.5 design was already being used on the electric focus and really the mk3 should have been this from the start.

where will ford be taking the focus after 2016? Back to its original cutting edge design? Or more golf like...

MK3 Focus is a great looking car! Love the lines and reminds me of the MK1. I don't know what Ford were thinking when they released the MK2!

Lol what? The mk3 has nothing that resembles the mk1. It's thinner, it's longer, totally different tailights, that disgusting front grille, the worse Aston design grille on any ford car that uses that design. That disgusting bloated gloss black dashboard and the rather dull looking steering wheel

It certainly more like the MK1 than the MK2 ever was. I think it's ugly and ford made a huge mistake replacing the MK1 with that.

The MK1 will always be the best.

The overall shape of the mk3 is more reminiscent of the mk1 than the mk2 ever was.

I still think the mk2.5 is nice looking car though, even if it is a bit boxy.

Blasphemy.

The Mk2 is a fantastic car.

More space, more comfortable, better layour, faster.

I've had a Mk1 and know for sure which one I prefer.

I think the mk2 and mk2.5 are the best focus ever made so far between the mk2 really took on the golf In a strong way and it's the most sold focus model ever.

I love the size and I think that's the most important part of its success, no hatch had as much room like the mk2 focus in its days, huge boot, great leg room and comfortable seats. The mk3 got rid of all that it's as if ford took what the golf was being smaller while the golf took what the mk2 was. Space.

Apart from engines the mk3 new toys over the mk2 or 2.5 is very weak.

I agree the Mk2.5 can indeed look a bit bulky from certain angles

I still love the look of my Mk2 freshly washed and catching the sun.

Lovely shape, the Mk1 was always a great drive but a bit squashed.

I think they have all been a success and all great cars from their own way, after having a mk 1 then a few other brands/different fords now on my second mk 3 but driven my parents old mk2 all great all unique and have all hit record high on best selling cars!

I still think FORD rocked the motoring world with the mk1 Focus in every aspect, The mk3 nice but I think FORD hasn't done enough with the back end and missed a trick as its too simaliar to the out going model, shame

Put it this way. I wouldn't even think about replacing the mk2.5 with the mk3.5. Backwards step in every way.

Actually no my biggest gripe and only gripe is the complete mad lack of boot space. From the biggest in class to the smallest in class

390 to 316. Just puts the mk 3 off my list altogether (don't take the boot sizes written here as accurate)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess, everyone's opinions will differ but hey, that's why there is a wide choice in the car market :)

It is one of the smallest in class indeed.
