rlohiya
Hi All, I am trying to install a new cigarette lighter, and need to know how many/which bits I need to unscrew/take apart to do this. I just have the hole/cutout where the new one slots into, but don't know about the wiring. I've never taken apart the gear stick/rubber bit etc, so don't know where/how to start. Any help would be appreciated. Regards,
jeebowhite
OK, so basiclaly if you put your fingers underneath the bottom of the rubber gaitore, you can gently pull the rubbert gaitor out and up (just turn it inside out so the cone points upwards) then, you can gently prise the surrounding trim up to get easier access. All you do, is slot the new socket in, and reconnect the wiring from underneath, then just reseat the gaitor.
Stoney871
If you need the socket and the mounting ring then they are available from Ford- Ring - part (Finis) code - 1085719 - £2.20 approx Socket - part (Finis) code 1447680 - £25 approx. The rings are extremely rare on the web so best ordered from a Ford parts counter, the socket is a tad pricey from Ford so I recommend you get one off eBay instead- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Cigarette-Lighter-Socket-Fiesta-Focus-Kuga-C-Max-Mondeo-Galaxy-Transit-/290948840683?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43bde6fceb The wiring will be very easy to spot when the gear surround is removed, the connector has two slots which form a T shape.
