Spray Painting Focus Exterior Plastics

Recommended Posts

I've ordered some Fog Light DRL's and a Sports lower grille for my focus.

I went to a local bodyshop who I've used before for panel work on a previous car.

Was quoted £150 to spray the Fog DRL's and Sports grille.

Was a bit more than I was expecting

Do you guys reckon be easier and obviously cheaper to just do it myself.

My general understanding for painting these parts:

  • Sand down with wet and dry,
  • 2-3 coats of plastic primer, leave to dry
  • Light sanding
  • 2-3 coats of paint, leave to dry
  • Light sanding
  • 2-3 coats of Laquer

Cheers

Ben

Does seem quite a lot. May be worth getting a few more quotes and removing the items before giving them to the bodyshop?

My mate does painting, it is cheaper to do it yourself but half the time it won't be as good as if you got someone proper to do it. He's from chorley Lancashire, pritty good prices aswell. U may be a fair bit away though I havnt checked ha.

But this is his he's just sprayed full car sea grey and everything els is panther black.
