Guest
My 2011 1.6 Ti-VCT petrol makes a very worrying metallic tapping sound for about 10-15 minutes after starting. It seems to be coming form the top end as far as I can tell and is not the injectors as they are a softer tapping sound also present. Ford garage had the car back twice and say no fault found as nothing showing on computer etc - they say this is normal. I cant believe a modern car can sound like this without causing damage to the internals as it sounds like a very dry hydraulic tappet or something in the VCT mechanism (solenoids or release pins perhaps). anyone got any suggestions?
