Fiesta Zetec fuel problems

2 posts in this topic

My son has a Ford Fiesta mk4, 1998. 1.25LX, I think this is the Zetec engine. He has broken down several times recently. Two of the AA men pointed at the fuel system. He has had a couple of garages look at it. The latest said that it was the fuel pump not starting when the ignition is switched on, he is saying that we need to change the ignition switch. There are no other electrical problems, does this make sense? How can a faulty ignition switch just affect the fuel pump? Is there a fuel cut out switch on these. I had problems with this on a Galaxy of mine once.

We're gonna replace the fuel pump. Is this an easy thing for a reasonably competent amateur to do? Anything we should look out for?
