This is like the 5th car forum I've seen it circulating on lol.

Dude needs to chill the hell out, but this wouldn't have happened if the woman wasn't being a lane hog.

If she had of moved to the inside lane like she should of, that may never of happened. Yes he shouldn't of done what he did but if doing something as simple as moving over to avoid a potential road rage attack or crash in this case its worth it. (He could of hit the car filming this or worse, an innocent oncoming vehicle and killed someone)

Incredibly stupid to be driving and using a mobile phone to record another idiot, though. Seems neither of them were paying much attention.

hope the person filming stuck his fingure up at the ram driver as he went past lmao..... what a tool the ram driver was, he deserved everything he had coming to him....in my eyes you can lane block as much as you like, as long as ur doing the limit.....

and he had just over took a car.....

I take it you don't know the highway code then. Try telling the police your rules of the road when they give you a £100 fine and points

The problem is that was America I believe, in which case their rules for using mobiles and such like are anything but the same as ours. Although I think your right, she certainly appears to have been lane hogging!

Martyn, sadly it doesnt work that way. The highway code states that all traffic should travel on the inside lane, whilst the additional lanes are to be used for overtaking purposes only and traffic is to then return to the inside. This now comes under the new police enforcement powers offered to them last year, which can prosecute you for lane hogging (the technical term escapes me).

If you can seriously justify it (like "if I pulled into the inside, I would have to swing outside every 2 seconds and risk an accident") then you could be alright, but if you were to say "well I was doing the limit" sadly, this would result in a £100 fine and 3 points I believe.

tbh that is what i believe in, why should you let somebody past you, even if you are creeping up to overtalking, and the person behind you wants to go over the limit.... in my eyes the limit is there for a reason, so ppl should not abuse it, ie when its 50, i do approx 55 on the speedo, to me this is fast enough... you pull over to let the car past you, say they are doing 70-80 where are the police/camera's???

i almost got my front end smashed yeaterday, due to a bloke in a landrover thinking he could overtake me on a cutting in lane.... guess he was rong, to miss the central reservation he had to go on the other side of the road... not my fault i was in the main stream lane.... where were the cops then.... erm not in sight.....

well, the reason why you should let them is because it is the rules of the road and whether or not they decide to obey them we are not the law therefore we have no right to try and force them to comply (a form of road rage in itself).

i do not have to let anybody in on a cutting in lane, its against the law for them to cut you up and if they did and hit my car its there fault and claim of there insurance do to them being stupid.... just the same as if you were merging onto a dual carriageway the traffic doesn't have to slow down, to let you in nor move out of the way, you are ment to slow down if thats this is the case, and enter when you can... its only due to polite road user's that let you enter......

There certainly has to be reason. The law would not support a driver who dangerously cuts up another and risks a collision as being a requirement of the highway code and the requirement to allow someone to enter the lane.

The highway code suggests that you should not be able to forcefully prevent someone from entering your lane (Bad Driving) however, if someone is signalling and wishes to safely manouver into the lane, then they should be allowed to join the carriageway.

In the event some fool cuts you up and forces you to apply the brakes, then the message from the police is that you will be prosecuted for driving without due care and attention, or dangerous driving. as a general rule, if you cause someone else to sharply change direction of travel or speed then you have driven in a dangerous or unsuitable manner.
