Groggles1989
Hello Thanks in advance to anyone that reads this and tries to help.I have recently Purchased a 2nd Hand Ford Focus 2.0 Petrol MK2 Saloon with Roughly 104k on the clockOverall the car is good but I'm having an intermittent clutch problem and Am wondering if anyone can give me any Ideas before I start stripping the car out. The problem I'm having is the clutch occasionally remaining disengaged after removing my foot from the pedal, It's happened 3 times over the course of around a month. To further detail what's going on I slow down substantially for something similar to a roundabout or a set of traffic lights, Out of habit I Always sequentially downshift as I slow, when I reach the lower gears, 3 times on the 3-2 shift, the is a slight noise and the pedal goes very soft and the clutch remains permanently disengaged, If i Turn the engine off rev down to a standstill I can engage the gears and start in 1st or 2nd and limp down the road, after about 1/2 a mile pressing and releasing the pedal the clutch will come to life again however there is a noticeable vibration in the clutch pedal when it's released. To summarize Clutch ceases to engage, Small sound heard engine powered off, gears select-able, while under revs not select-able clutch works again after 1/2 a mile or so but with vibration traveling back up the pedal, especially at lower revs, vibration matches engine revs Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance Ben
nazsky786
I had that issue, turn out it was the pressure plate. I replaced the clutch and plate as the come as a kit and all sorted. Sound similar to my issue. You can start the car but before you do you must select gear. You cannot select one with engine started.
