58 Fiesta 1.4Tdci Engine System Fault Light On Dash Intermittent

Hi all.

Wife's festa displays Engine system fault check owners manual etc etc and displays orange cog with exclamation mark in Middle, also a red light lower down on when it's at fault.

Didn't come on at all yesterday and is very intermittent.

Once it went off I ran the DTC check and none present?

No loss of revs or power so bit weird.

Thanks in advance

Rob

Without getting the fault codes, I'd replace the fuel filter and see if this cures it, Cheapest way. Mine cost £20 all in.

Could be Egr valve sticking.

Mine was going in to limp mode but when you switched off full power restored.

No faults on Dtc.

Replaced valve ,jobs a good un.

Was serviced last November so will check what was replaced. And may just get another fuel filter myself

EGR replaced last year by me due to water ingress in ERG electronic module and corrosion destroyed the terminals inside.

just a pointer if your tdci fails to start after possibly cutting out. Simply unplug electric connection on EGR and car will start.
