The Focus MK3 folding key can also be used on a Focus MK2/MK2.5.

The part numbers of the non remote Focus MK2/MK2.5 and Focus MK3 keys are identical. This means that the PATS chips of both vehicles are the same (4D63 PATS chip). The frequency of the remote control is also the same on both vehicles (433 Mhz).

The remote control functions can be programmed using the procedure which is listed in the instruction manual.

To program the PATS system a suitable diagnostic system with PATS (CODED PATS) programming capability is required. For example the Ford IDS diagnostic system or the FoCom diagnostic system. If you do not own such a diagnostic system yourself you have to find someone who has or go to your local Ford dealer.

There are no other ways to program the PATS system yourself on a Focus MK2/MK2.5.

my manual states: turn key from 0 to II 4 times in 6 seconds to hear a chime...and sadly i get nothing :s

Yes, I understand that the PATS has to be programmed professionally.

Cheers

Update:

it seems I can only program my original flip key and not a secondary flip key (mk2) or the new lip key (mk3). When I hear the chime, I can only program the original key, pressing the secondary mk2 or new mk3 has no effect
