just wondering whats the best oil to get the smoothest running engine on the ford 1.6 zetec

Castrol magnatec 5w30 or the ford formual f 5w30?

also is this Castrol magnatec any good or is it just a sales ploy and is the ford formula f the best oil for the focus?

i like the idea of the partcles in it sticking to the engine parts for quiet running and protection on cold starts but does it actually work or as i day just another sales ploy??

The Ford Formula F oil is made by Castrol. Based on product specifications the Ford Formula F oil should be same as the Castrol Magnatec 5w30 A1/B5 oil.

Castrol is the only oil brand which is recommended/approved by Ford.

For standard protection Ford recommends the Formula F oil.

For advanced protection Ford recommends the Castrol Magnatec professional 5w30 A5 oil.

In my opinion Both oil types will be fine. Until now I used both the Formula F oil and the Castrol magnatec A1/B5 oil. Generally both types of oil can be bought online for approximately same prices. Last time I paid about €30,- for a 5 liter can of Ford Formula F oil. The Castrol Magnatec professional oil will probably be a little more expensive.

thanks

JW1982 for reply.

i think i will use the formual f as i dont think i would be gaining anything with the magnatec option.

along the same subject whats the best spark plugs you would recommend for the 1.6 mk2.5 zetec focus?

I use NGK TR5B-13 spark plugs for my 1.6 Duratec Focus MK2. My experience is that these spark plugs perform very well. I buy them from a shop in the UK for about £8,50 including P&P. Despite my low mileage I change the spark plugs every 2 years.

Another possibility will be the NGK PTR5A-13 Platinum spark plugs. These have a longer changing interval but are also more expensive.
