FiestaGirl89
Hi all, I just wanted abit of advice really! I bought my Fiesta Mk7 from Evans Halshaw (unfortunately for me) When i bought it i also bought the extended 24 month Mechanical and Breakdown cover which was about £400. After experiencing how !Removed! they actually are i just wanted to know if anybody knows if i can get out of this contract. I'm paying for my car on finance and have had it for around 9 months now. Any help would be appreciated!! :)
alexp999
I think once you are past your 14 days it can be a bit difficult to get out. Unless you feel they are in breach of contract?
FiestaGirl89
They not technically breached there contract but generally they are just a shocking company and I've had so much hassle with them I'd rather just get rid of it. alexp999
Are you paying monthly or is it all paid up for? If they have not breached that specific contract I don't think you can cancel it. If you do there would be no refund, which would be pointless as you might as well keep it on the off chance they do honour it.
btmaldon
Is the warranty with EH or Ford? If with Ford I cant see why you would have to go to EH.
FiestaGirl89
It's an EH Guarentee :( Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
FiestaGirl89
I'm still paying for it I think too Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
alexp999
If you are still paying for it, then you should be able to cancel and at least pay no more, though you would forfeit what you paid so far unless they built in a term about refunds. Have a read of the contract t and cs for it.
FiestaGirl89
Well I've had a quick look through and couldn't see anything. I've rang them up and they couldn't tell me as they don't know :/ Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
alexp999
There will be a clause in the contract about terminating/ending/cancelling it. It has to be in there just to cover the 14 day cooling off period if nothing else. It won't be easy to find, buried in a wall of text no doubt.

MattDRX
Whats the actual problem with this though? they still have to honor the agreement by providing said service, if they are not / dodging it etc etc then that is means to cancel without penalty, but we need to know more. kristriple
I wouldn't buy anything from Evans Halshaw again. Got my Mondeo from there two years ago. Two weeks later, discovered the drivers side of the heated screen didn't work. Took it back and they looked at it and found the wiring was corroded. They then told me they wouldn't fix it and I would have to go thru my insurance. When I pointed out that insurance would not cover it as the screen was structurally OK, they promptly suggested I get around that by chucking a brick through it. After I raised strong objections to committing insurance fraud, they then offered to pay the £75 excess if I did it. They only relented when I asked for my money back (I'd paid cash in full). And that's to say nothing of the dead radiator fan, knackered rear brake, corroded crankshaft pulley and a bunch of other stuff I missed pre-sale. Never again. It's not just EH that are like unfortunately. Arnold shark did something similar with me. In Aberdeen, basically all the franchise's are either Arnold Clark or Peter vardy. And they are both useless. What do you do!? Travel hundreds of miles to buy a car and the after sales are still garbage! kingy94
I know this is slightly off topic but still...when i was looking for a car i spotted a zetec s fiesta at a Evans halshaw garage half an hour or so away and decided to go look at it, so i made an appointment and went. When i got there i went to have a look at the car with the sales man, he went to start it and it didnt as the battery was completely flat, then when he got it started it wouldnt move as the handbrake was jammed on! The body work was terrible and didnt look like it did in the pictures! He didnt even seem bothered either. Thing that gets me is they had half an hour or so to go over the car to make sure it did start etc but they didnt. so it was a completely wasted journey for me! That really didnt fill me with much hope for any after care if i did buy from them at all so i just walked away.
TheRookie
When I was looking for a Focus CC I spotted one in Evans Halshaw Wolverthampton (I think). As I was in Birmingham that day I decide to go and have a look. The sales guys were totally disinterested in sale. In fact I had to prove to them that yes Ford indeed made a cabrio and yes they have it in stock! Unbelievable... Then after half an hour wait some guy showed me the car. Gosh, I am not sure what happened to it but the car was in absolutely terrible state! Scratches and dents everywhere, smell of vomit inside and the rear bench had dozens of cigarette holes burned in it, The car was on 10 plate and had roughly 30K miles on a clock (can't remember the actual details so forgive me) but it was very much ruined. When I mentioned this to the "sales" guy his response was "what did you expect? ya ain't buying brand new Ferrari, mate" and then he simply walked away. The car was advertised for 7500 for Fords' sake! I know it ain't no Ferrari but still fairly expensive item (well for me at least). All in all, their loss - I bought my Blacky from other dealership.
