Guest
Hi, I have an 03 fiesta zetec with original lights. I like the different headlights on the mk6.5 (facelift model) because they are more rounded and just look more youthful. Also I thought combined with the original shaped front fogs, the car would look more unique. Does anyone know if the mk6.5 lights will fit my pre-facelift fiesta and if they would have to be wired in differently? Any knowledge on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks. Chris_pickford94
Hi mike, I used to have a mk6 fiesta and did exactly the same The facelift headlights are a direct swap for the originals with the same plug connector, just different indicator bulbs But the rear lights are different and would involve some re-wiring if you were thinking of doing them You could also change your side repeaters, if they are orange like most, they look good in clear and can be bought cheapish off eBay The washer jets on mk6's are also known to leak because they haven't got a rubber seal between the jet and the bonnet and can cause issues with spark plugs May be worth getting a new set (fairly cheap at a ford dealer apparently) Hope this helps you out Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Guest
Hi Chris, thanks for replying. So if I were to fit the new lights, I would have to get new indicator bulbs? And is it technically allowed, I mean, if I fit them and take it for an MOT, it wouldn't fail would it? Sorry to show my ignorance, I'm not technically minded when it comes to my car, I just want it to look nice.

Yeah you would have to get new indicator bulbs, the ones in your original headlights are orange, and the ones for the facelift headlights are clear bulbs because the headlights have an orange tint built into them (if that makes sense) But that should only cost a couple of quid from a shop/eBay The only thing I would recommend doing to them is getting a headlight alignment once fitted This is because the whole unit may not be in the exact position it was before and also the beam pattern would likely be wrong when you first get them out of the box If I remember correctly I paid £15 for a headlight alignment Other than that youl have no problems and will pass an mot as if they were factory fitted Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Chris_pickford94
That's my old car before and after fitting the headlights, only a 15 minute job, front grille pulls off, 3 screws on each unit and just pulls out Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Guest
Wow really nice job, totally transforms the look of the car. How much were those alloys if you don't mind me asking and do you know where I can get a decent set? Not really keen on the Zetec alloys. Was going to get rid of it, only had it since December and have spent about £1000 on it already because of problems. On the drive home after buying it, engine management light came on, apparently it was a twisted brake pipe. Couple weeks later, light came on again, lambda sensor in the exhaust had broken apparently and was told I might need a new catalytic converter but light was put out. Couple weeks later, electric window function had broken. Another week later, light came back on, was told it is definitely the catalytic converter. Now I'm at the point where I'm too scared to pay to get the work done because if the light comes on again afterwards, I will be furious and not to mention potless. Chris_pickford94
I actually got the alloys off eBay I think, only paid £100 and they had almost new tyres on all of them Have a look on either eBay or Gumtree, that can sometimes have good stuff on It I had a few problems with mine so I bought a code reader off eBay, plugs into my laptop so I can read and reset the fault codes myself http://bit.ly/1mpRmW8 That's similar to the one I got Makes it a lot cheaper than keeping going to a garage and gives you a chance to fix the problem yourself rather than believing what the garage say needs doing on it I had the lambda sensor go, replaced that myself fairly cheaply The cat also needed replacing, but just kept resetting the management light for abit until it came to MOT time and had to have it replaced Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
