Hello everyone I'm new here I've just bought a 2002 puma thunder with full service history, this car has never wanted for anything, its minted :-) for £700 can anyone please tell me what the difference is between a normal 1.7 puma and a thunder, apart from leather interior and air con. Many thanks.

Owned one of these years ago, that was also a 2002. From what I remember Ford just threw the full options list at it. As you say leather interior and a/c but also heated front screen and the top end stereo. Always felt a stiffer ride than the standard, but can't say it was a different set up. anyway nice car and a bargain, keep your eye open for rust at the base of the doors and rear wheel arches. I always found premium higher octane fuel worked well in these engines.

Enjoy

Mike.

Well both rear wheel arches have already been cut out and re plated so one less thing to worry about, the other bonus to come with the car is the number plate TH51DER ;-)

Apart from the options I don't believe that there was any difference. Running gear and suspension was the same. The Thunder came at the end of the Puma run and like most Fords, Ford throw a load of extras at them to sell them off. They did the same with the Escorts and the Focus's before they change to the next mark and call them a special edition. Always a good time to buy.

I loved the Puma. Great car to drive and good looking. I wish the brought out a new version as I am sure it would be popular.
