Thanks jordan Sent from my SM-N9005 using Ford OC mobile app Personally i would not waste my time with a 1.8ohv, there are lots of engines you could fit, 1st of all the RS turbo can be made strong and powerful, and can make the mk3 escort shift pretty fast There has got to be someone that has done the Cosworth YB (sierra/escort cosworth) conversion, rwd or awd, THAT would be worth the hassle a tuned one often has the "magic" 400Hp/ 400 400 torques Another good engine is the Volvo 5-pot turbo (as fitted to the Focus ST225/ RS mk2) 270Hp with just a remap (ST) Potentially 350-400 hp The Mitz EVO motor is another serious option Recent MOT rules make it more difficult to get some engine transplant projects road legal
11jordan007
With the volvo 5 pot, do you need the whole engine transmition etc etc or can you just use the block and head? Sent from my SM-N9005 using Ford OC mobile app

Sent from my SM-N9005 using Ford OC mobile app Probably easier getting the whole lot, with the driveshafts/ big brakes etc and all the peripherals ECU etc, Someone has already fitted a 5-pot turbo to a Mondeo mk1/2 4x4 i think - you could find out more about that edit - found it - http://www.modifiedcars.com/cars/37085/modified-ford-mondeo-si-4x4-turbo-1996-pictures The RS engined Mondeo 4x4 is better than the mk4 mondeo 2.5T (basically the same engine) because it is (much) lighter and has 4wd , it is better than the Focus ST225 and RSmk2 because it has 4wd Engine conversions/transplants should make sense/ be better than their donor cars (eg lighter) otherwise what is the point? 11jordan007
But surely it would be a whole lot easier to just put the cosworth engine, as they vertially drop straight in, not looking for massive power but the rs is only pushing about 170 with mods on it Sent from my SM-N9005 using Ford OC mobile app
