Got all the brakes sorted today, except one brake pipe needs doing on the n/s rear drum. Then the new braided line can be fitted. All brake shoes, springs, clips, cylinders etc replaced. Front brake caliper seals, dust covers, bleed nipples etc replaced. Braided lines, discs and pads have been replaced a few weeks ago on the front. Sorted the leak from the fan switch, fan needs new contacts or a dash switch fitting. As not kicking in. All sensors and switches are new. Big thanks to my Dad for all his help. :D

That's all the brakes done, new drilled/grooved discs, pads, new caliper seals, bleed nipples, new shoes, cylinders, springs, clips etc, braided lines all round. And all bled with new fluid. :D

Still needs a lick of paint.

Now onto the suspension!

What a ball ache of a job, but new track control arms fitted, and poly bushes fitted to front control arms and anti roll bar. Will get the front shocks and springs fitted tomorrow and that will be all the front suspension done. (except for painting). :D

This is probably one of the most thorough and detailed build threads I've seen. Brilliant read.

Heard that polybushes completely transform the ride. When is this looking to be on the road?

Cheers, it's hard work.....but it's getting there....it's not concors, but clean and tidy, and usable. No time set, just when it's done lol. Got a few little jobs to do, and needs painting so I can put interior back in, and trim etc back on the outside. Hopefully next few months. :-)

Love this! My first ever car 25 years ago was an Escort 1.3 GL (X Reg)...it was my pride and joy. This thread bring back a lot of memories! Awesome work!

Great work, reminds me of when I did a full nuts & bolts resto on my XR3! Took me 4 years & loved every second of it. Keep it up mate, soon be done.

Cheers mate, my first car was a mk3 Escort 1.1L x reg....that only cost me £60 lol :-)

Thanks mate, would love to do a full nut and bolt resto, but just haven't got the time. Find it hard doing this, but I love doing it. :-)

Got my gearbox resting on the anti roll bar sorted out.......my mate figured out that my OE roll bar is a slightly different shape due to it having a 4 speed from the factory. So off with the 22mm front arb and on with a 24mm xr3i 5 speed arb. Job done, upgraded and plenty of clearance. :-D

And don't think I ever put a pic of this one in the thread. As my car is an 1982, it would of had one of these.

Put the carpet, seats and door trims back in, when I got home from work. As the interior will be masked off, and it's taking up alot of room in the garage. Least now I can tidy up, and find all my lost tools lol :D

Been really busy lately, so not had a chance to work on the Escort. Have been collecting a few parts though. :)

Throttle cable bracket, has taken months to find this.
