Major Issue.

My focus has gone all weird.

Symptoms are.

No sound or light when indicating but outside indicators work.

Airbag light on. Always on.

Handbrake light always on.

Seatbelt light always on.

Outside temp is just dashes.

Everything else works fine.

I've replaced the gem module with my old one and same issue.

Elmconfig cannot connect to the gem module so I'm thinking there is a prob with wiring.

The green connector to the gem module has been cut up by a alarm installer but have no idea is that may be the issue.

Need some help as airbags stay off if this isn't fixed.

Have you wired anything up recently may be linked to the starting issue you have it sounds like the symptoms you get when the dash cluster fails though without diagnostics it isnt a given

The cluster is the only one that has stored a code with is a u1900 . Can communication. Funny as the starting issue has actually gone. I did change CD player. Was running wires by the fuse box etc. Might have disconnected something but I've check everything is fine. One issue is the speed sensor not working.

Theres two big connectors on the fuse box disconnect them and make sure they are fitted together they can look like they are but not quite

I've connected them. They are correctly connected.

you may need to take it in then it sounds like a cluster fault from the symptoms but theres no way to be sure without having it looked at

Do you mean taking it to Ford?

Does anyone know if the GEM Module has a fuse for itself? A fuse in the engine bay?

I have found that the CAN system both High & Low are perfectly fine.

GEM does not respond but nor does the Restraint System.

So just wondering is there any fuse that covers the GEM?

Its not the Cluster, the Cluster itself is perfectly fine.

The issue lies with the GEM & Airbag Module.

Don't worry about that can communication code. I have it too on my mk2.5 from what I gathered online it isn't a standard fault code and no code reader can pick it up. Its only appears in the cluster and apparently general code for anything canbus related. It isn't a fault that I know of nor is it a real DTC.

Your GEM might need resetting, disconnect the battery for couple hours and see if that helps. Remember your radio code.

The connecting issue with elm could be your laptop aswell. I have always had problems connecting elmconfig it does take many attempts before it connects

Ford already tried that. They disconnected battery. Tried using there diagnostics and all the come up was the GEM not responding. They even tried connecting my old gem and old cluster that didn't work. Tried copying my setting from old gem and putting it on new one that didn't work. Ford are lost on what the problem is. The gem having issues makes the airbag module have issues. Ford sent sure if there is a fuse to the gem itself. They printed a gem wiring diagram for me. So I'm going to check all the cables are connected fuses etc. Wish me luck.

Figured out there is nothing wrong with the Airbag Module itself. The GEM is having the issue. The issue being no ignition signal. So once I fix the GEM issue the Airbag Module would fix itself. It's not the GEM module it's eithier a cable or a fuse. Find it and I fix it. Anyone able to please don't hesitate

Best bet is to just visually check all starter and ignition fuses in the engine bay, then check the GEM itself. Also beneficial to disconnect the battery, and remove ALL connections on the GEM fuseboard, and reseat them all securely.

Ohhh perfect. The green and blue connector goes behind the carpet on the right hand side of the gas pedal along the wall. I can see the control module isn't very far from it. But iirc there is another connector blue and green on the passenger side two.

I will trace the wiring from that connector and see what I find it looks about less than half a meter from the green and blue connector

I tried find it. The cable goes pretty far up. I can feel the sponge bit but you have to go up further.
