Ecoboost Cam Belt/chain

7 posts in this topic

Hi folks,

Does any one know if the Fiesta Ecoboost has a cam belt or chain. The reason I am asking is that I have seen it written that the engine has a cam belt running in oil - that sounds like a chain to me.

As above ^

It has a oil immersed cam belt which is strange but obviously works.

Does this last the life of the engine? Or is it changed during a service?

I'd be pretty certain it's changed at some point, but probli talking high mileage as it's oil immersed and not open to weather etc etc. Then again it's under high stress and hot oil so I don't know ?

Would it be the camshaft drive belt? (I'm not very mechanical!).

If so, etis says every 10yrs/150,000
