Hi people,

My son got a Focus Diesel 08 plate, now when he fills his car up it takes forever to fill as the Diesel pump keeps cutting out !! this happens at all the Petrol stations. Is there a fault with his car ? is there anything that can be down to solve this.

Thanks

Is the car fitted with the easyfuel system?

Easiest way to tell is whether he has a fuel cap or not.

No cap equals easyfuel.

He needs to push the nozzle in and then let it sit naturally in the filler neck or else the flaps in the neck won't open fully.

This causes a back flush of fuel which will trip the fuel pumps cut off.

Thanks Stoney 871, yes it is easyfuel as he has no cap. Thanks for the reply I will pass the info on to my son. He only had the car for 5 weeks so he still getting used to it. Thanks again.

Yeah mine does this sometimes (also easy fuel). As Stoney said, just make sure it's all the way in, and resting naturally. There's a little diagram on mine I think, on the hinge.

Too risky if it keeps cutting out. Last time I did this and didn't keep an eye on it I got fuel all down the side of the car. Not ideal.
