I was just wondering if it is ok to always use supermarket diesel, or can this have bad problems for your car in the future? i have heard from different sources that its better to use fuel from a proper garage e.g. Esso (i have a mondeo 06 mk3)

My previous car (Qashqai 1.5dci) suffered terribly if I used supermarket fuels, lack of power, chugging, poor MPG etc. Regular diesel from the major firms was a little bit better. I tend to use Shell V-Power diesel which I've found I get better MPG, a quieter engine and better in-gear acceleration which to me offsets the extra costs.

I back that I only use Shell fuel saver. I have done some test on supermarket fuels I am 100% confident the car becomes under powered and on my car when I hit around quarter tank with supermarket fuel I get misfire at low revs. I stopped using that stuff no more miss fire I then tried it again sane issue. Went back to Shell and never had an issue since.

My car is a 1.6 tdci 2010 with 32K on the clock

Aren't Waitrose supermarkets only selling Shell fuel?

I'd say avoid Morrisons at all cost as they are adding biodiesel to their derv.

When my Yaris was diagnosed with fueld blockade and gas recirculation issue, Toyota extended warranty rep told me that it was because of the Morrisons diesel (I used it for two years as it was the cheapest). They still picked up 800 quid bill because Toyota apparently never told its customers not to use biodiesel so they accepted the warranty claim.

I have to admit when I used supermarket petrol there wasn't much difference. Mileage per tank was slightly less but never any problems with petrol. Diesel however yes had issues

I agree.

My focus petrol has always run fine.

My Merc diesel before the focus ran rough.

Diesel is obviously more sensitive.

Too true, although with my latest car it hasnt got a DPF, I dont mind the extra tax as it will never amount to how much a DPF would cost me if it went BANG!!!
