Hey being a tad brave here mentioning vauxhall I know

However I am intending on doing a service on a 57 plate astra 1.7 cdti and wondered if anyone knew what the script is with priming the fuel filter

looks like its a element type filter, done simmilar on older pugs etc but they normally have a priming pump..

Put as much fuel in if as you can and reassemble it, then try to brim it using a syringe - a method that can be used on many cars.

Fill the interior with petrol first though.. You won't need to worry about bleeding diesel

+1 roll it to a field, fill with fuel and forget it ever happened

All the more reason to do it "give me a pay rise or the motor gets it :D"

lol

as said though, fill with diesel, sit in situ, flood with a syringe and just plug it in. You could use a priming bulb to try and expel the remaining air but most the time flooding it is enough to get it going after a few minutes.
