StanH Posted June 10, 2014 Share Posted June 10, 2014 Got careless backing out of the garage and found that the passenger mirror only folds one way so now I need a new assembly. Is changing it as simple as someone once asked (I couldn't find the reply), prise off the trim inside the door to reveal a connector and a couple of securing screws or bolts? Vendee Posted June 10, 2014 Share Posted June 10, 2014 I had mine knocked off by another driver a couple of months ago. I got a replacement off eBay. New but not original Ford. Go to eBay and type 291116906849 into the search box. That will take you to a passenger side, heated, electric mirror. Its the same seller I bought from. Cost £37. Its not quite the quality of the original in that the pivot point is not as tight but the cost is reasonable. The cover on the one I mentioned is primed but it unclips easily so you can either spray it with a spray can or maybe use the original cover if its in good nick. I lost mine on the way to work and ordered at about 11am. It arrived at 8am the next morning. Not bad for free postage. You need to pop off the little speaker trim first to give you access to the other screws. ISTR one of the screws is well hidden so be patient and don't try and wrench anything off. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

nazsky786 Posted June 10, 2014 Share Posted June 10, 2014 It's easy to install. Remove the cover of the tweeter the black flap not the complete thing. Then you should see a screw undo it and the tweeter housing should come off. From there it's another screw and bolt. Is there any sort of release mechanism in this - I have looked all over and cannot find anything that looks like doing that. Crunched it on Monday, asked questions on here, ordered replacement and all back to normal Friday PM --- thanks. The replacement unit has a flat mirror which I can live with, but I do have the heated original one - is changing the mirror itself possible? jeebowhite Posted June 14, 2014 Share Posted June 14, 2014 Hi matey, yeah its possible you bought just a plain mirror, check the number of wires going out across the old and the new. To be honest, it depends how good condition your old mirror is in - if its in a good state behind the mirror you could transplant but its more agro than its worth.
