smngry
I've noticed since buying this car in April that it gets up to temperature a lot quicker than my old mk1 Focus. This morning, I took it out for less than 5 minutes and the gauge was sat at halfway in just over half that time. Just wondered if this was normal, it sat at cold, then the needle must've jumped straight to half way, there was nothing gradual about it. It doesn't go last half way, so it isn't over heating. I just wanted to run this last you guys. Like I said above, it's a mk2 1.6 Zetec petrol.
jeebowhite
I think you have the EGR system which if you do is the reason. Basically, when yolu have the EGR, the exhaust gas is taken out of the exhaust pipe and sent back round to the engine in essence. As the hot exhaust gas flows, the coolant water surrounds it and the heat also dissipates into the coolant, helping it to get up to speed, as well as apparently saving the planet.
